71 GMC Project update
After 2 years of blood and sweat, it is finally starting to look like a truck again. The rolling chassis is mostly done, all the rust has been repaired, and the sheet metal is at the paint shop.

Hey Eddie, good to hear from you. I don't know if picture trail will let you link or not, but you might try just attaching the pics one to a post with the "attach a file" window at the bottom of each post. Anxious to see it.
BTW, is your son at A&M this fall?

Yea, it looks like Picturetrail won't work either, just like webshots.
I guess that's what you get for free. I just moved my son, Luke, into Cain Hall this past weekend. All 47,000 aggies were all down there trying to move in at the same time. Talk about a traffic jam. Anyway, I'll see if I can attach the pics or something.

I have been using a pic hosting site someone referred off the board, it seems to work for me. Here is the link: HP Photo You are really moving forward on your project. Hard to understand how you can work around cars all day and then still find the motivation to pursue a project on your off hours. What color are you going to use for the sheet metal?

Hi, John
You're right, after working on cars all day, coming home and working on this project is not my first choice. I'm just doing it for my boys. It's a Father/Son thing if ya know what I mean. The cab and front clip should be coming out of the paint shop soon. It's gonna be Black with all the original GMC Custom chrome and wood grain mouldings. I used the hp photo site. it works pretty good. Thanks. BTW is that your little blue 71 shortbed that I see at the house Just off of Ball street in Grapevine?

I think the truck is definately headed in the right direction. Keep us posted on the progress. Maybe if you have a spec list of the truck let us know. Brandon

Eddie,
The Father & Son thing is a good thing a small investment in the future. Something that you can pass on and hopefully your son will too. Black is a very good color choice. Memories being made. Yes that is my 71 just off Ball Street.

That 71 is definitely a keeper. I thought about stopping and trying to buy it several times. As far as the specs on my 71, its a GMC 1500 custom lwb with power steering, power brakes, factory ac, etc. ( I found it rusting away in the back yard of an old man in Ft Worth and rescued it) The engine is the 350 that came in it, bored .030 over with flat top pistons, a 350 horse 327 cam, performer intake , afb carb, and hei ignition. The heads have been bowl ported and port matched with a 3 angle valve job. Nothing real radical, but it should be a good strong driver. The tranny is a 700r4. The frame and all suspension components were sand blasted, rebuilt, and repainted. All the sheet metal was media blasted and shot with ppg dp 90 epoxy primer. I had to replace both floor boards, rocker panels, cab corners, and door pillars. It had a lot of cancer once I got in there. Gmcblue, Thanks for the offer, I'm sure my son will appreciate it. What he is really going to be needing this summer is a job. If you know of any companys or engineering firms that have internships for engineering students. Thanks for the kind words, guys.
