Re: Grill question
Thanks for that illustration, Jeff. That's a cool guide for me since I'm just getting into the 73-87 trucks.

Re: Grill question
Yes, they were. But they mostly changed very little, they all had the standard GMC 3 sections with horizontal slats.

Re: Grill question
I`m surprised on the 83/84 and the 85/87 they don`t show the dual light version.

Re: Grill question
The chart that Jeff posted "sorta" does at the bottom. It shows the quad lights version but doesn't make mention of the difference.

Re: Grill question
I thought the 79 was the only year the head light bezel also went around the marker/driving light.

Re: Grill question
No, 79 and 80 both did that. In 1980, the Silverado trim level had the square headlight, and the other trim level trucks had 1979's round headlight with full bezel setup.

Re: Grill question
Since the subject is up !
The P/O painted the grill in my 74. While I'm doing the full restoration I would like to install a new grill. Problem is LMC doesn't list a grill for 73/76 trucks, They say the 77/80 can be made to fit but I like my deeper style grill (pic. below). All the ones I have found in my local bone yards have had damage, Does anyone know where I may be able to find a aftermarket replacement ? Thanks

Re: Grill question
Thanks But, I got burnt buying a grill and headlight bezels off ebay. They were miss described by far and pics hide many flaws, They are worse than my originals.
I spent $2500 last year buying restro parts on ebay, Mostly new repro. or NOS parts from stores. Have bought a few things from individuals but if they don't have above 95% feedback and at-least 200 items sold I don't fool with them.

Re: Grill question
Yep...but I'm refering to the pictures above. It shows 77 and 78 did that. I don't think so. 80 is all by itself and the cheaper trucks had the round headlight settup like the 79's.

Re: Grill question
In the illustration it shows the hood detail starting in 77, wasn't it started in 79?

Re: Grill question
restorob, the grill you need is a 73/74 grill only. I have seen NOS 73-74 grills on eBay (I got one for my '73) lately, keep looking, one will pop up. Nobody reproduces them.

Re: Grill question
Where is that color illustration from? A magazine or book? It would make a cool poster to hang in the garage.
