Adjusting the Pan Hard bar?

Ok I did a few searches and couldn't come up with anything. I've got an adjustable Pan Hard bar on my 71 with a 2/4 ECE drop. I'm going to put 1" blocks in to drop the rear just a bit more. What do I need to do with the Pan Hard bar to keep everything correct? Is it just a matter of disconnecting it....installing the blocks.....then reinstall it by turning the eye to line up with the bolt hole on the diff? Or do I need to do some measuring? Any input would be great. TIA.....

Re: Adjusting the Pan Hard bar?

The way we have always done them is to take a measurement from the backing plate to the frame on either side. Once you get it centered up you can adjust your bar to the correct length.

Re: Adjusting the Pan Hard bar?

With the panhard bar disconnected,... most likely the rearend will shift to one side. I connected a ratchet strap to the frame and then across to the opposite trailing arm. Then I pull the rearend until each backing plate was the same distance from the frame. This will center the rearend. Then you can adjust the panhard bar until it will line up with the bracket. Also do this with the weight of the truck on the rearend. (up on jackstands) to simulate ride height. Not with the axle hanging.
