Door Hinge Question
What exactly holds the doors open on these trucks? My doors when open just immediately close or flop around whenever they want. Am I missing some parts?

Re: Door Hinge Question
On the door hinge you will see a part that looks like two pieces of metal with the ends at either end of the hinge squeezed together and the middle spread apart. There is a little square part that catches on that other part and stops it. The little square part on my driver side door fell out and mine doesnt work. Thats probably a pretty poor description but if you look at a hinge you should be able to figure it out.

Re: Door Hinge Question
Sounds like the stops are shot. As far as i know only chevy duty sells the replacment pads seperately. To replace them you have to take the door panel off. Get a small punch and knock the roll pen out of the top hinge and pull the stop into the door. The pads should just fall out. Put the new pads in and slide the metal part of the stop back through. Reinstall the roll pin and door panel and thats it. Hope this helps.

Re: Door Hinge Question
Friction pads in the upper hinges are worn or missing.

Re: Door Hinge Question
MAKE SURE THE DOOR MOUNTS THEMSELVES ARE SOLID !!! These doors all tended to crack at the mounts (where the hinge bolts to the door). It's not uncommon to find 7-8 out of ten doors with stress cracks at the door mount area---you can have them rewelded but once cracked and rewelded, you can expect them to re-crack in the future.
