Instrument woodgrain bezel?

Did instrument woodgrain bezels came from GM with a decal sticker stamped on it or did it came sealed permanently from the factory?? Im seing that most vendors only sell the decal sticker and ive been told that there no good!!!

What material is that, it looks like a wood veneer with a polyester high gloss finish over it at least as i went more into the site and looked at consoles and stuff.

For the 67-72 there is a backing plate there, is that supplied or is that an original face just with the veneer stuck onto it?

this is a wood veneer about 1/8" thick with self sticking back about $120 last time I checked, well thats what I paid anyway, alittle costly but had to have it.

The original Cheyenne bezel was a backed applique,more than a mylar sticker.I`ve installed the stickers and the tend to shrink.
What`s the source of that wood veneer?I remember they were made and stopped due to problems.That was a long time ago.I`m glad to see they are out,again.

I now have the 69-72 7 hole dash bezel with the woodgrai already on it.

Well I am curious about that. I have done cabinet work and patternmaking for 25 plus years some similiar types of work only with 3/4 solid.

8" or 9" material whatever it isl has the potential to move about 1/8 shrinkage wise in the summer compared to when colder and damper cross grain so not sure how they deal with that, is it on a metal backer or something??

Will run a few when there is time already planed to maybe cherry and birdseye maple. The original if it is on my truck is a verneer not a solid 1/8 as you say. So I imagine it is about .030 or less, veneer has got thinner over the years.

I have plans of doing mine pretty much the same out of solid wood by faking
out my plainer to make the bezel and using my router with a template from the original plus the glove box.
