Is your truck modified?
Looking through the pics of everyone's trucks in several threads, it seems like I'm seeing alot more nearly stock trucks than I am modified ones. This got me wondering what the numbers really are. How many on here have modified their trucks or are into modifying, and how many prefer to leave it just stock?
So it's poll time. Let's see your vote. And when I say modified, I don't mean that chrome grille guard, or the aftermarket CD player you put in it. I'm talking about lowering, big rims, bags, built motors, that sort of stuff. I'll go first... |

Mine still looks stock but I'm in the process of some mods just took out the 350 sb and put in a new rebuilt 400 sb with a 350 turbo and doing the body work to get it painted

Re: Is your truck modified?
Of course Officer, the truck is stock. You wouldn't think that I would lie to you, do you?
It came with the rough idling chromey looking thingy under the hood and the loud pipes is due to the muffies getting a little worn. I will take care of it this weekend at the shop down town--Just around the corner from the Sonic---Trust me. 383 stroker with a built 700R4 fed through a 2400 stall converter, going to a 3.73 posi rear. Chrome and purdy things to make the Ricers think it is only a show truck. The flames in the paint job are just my buddy's way of telling me that he can paint good. A little stereo for noise and comfort, along with the gray tweed interior. Other than that; it is stock---all stock GM truck...... John Milner was a great guy to look up to. Re: Is your truck modified?
My truck is modified but not visually too much. I like the stock looks of these trucks so i did not want to go with big rims or lowering it down. So many of these trucks were made that stockers just seemed boring to me at first, but now i think it is really cool to see a stocker. Stockers stick out! I like both but am alittle more into the slightly moddifed then the radical.

Re: Is your truck modified?
I drove mine for 8yrs. stock till the trans. went out, That's what prompted the complete body off. Right now everything but the frame, Cab shell and bed is stored in my three extra bedrooms. When back together it will be anything but stock.

Re: Is your truck modified?
Mine probably doesn't qualify as modified except for drop spindles and flip kit. Mostly it is a collection of different year GM parts.
Originally v6/Th400 with 2.73 open rear, single headlights. Now has 73 vintage 350, 1 1/4 sway bar from 3/4 ton Burb, and big brakes in front. Future mods are 4 speed OD manual trans, 3.73 posi, truck buckets, tilt column, big rear brakes, rear sport bumper, cruise control, and dual headlights. |

Re: Is your truck modified?
Its good to see responses from everyone! I'm glad so many are into the modding scene. Personally, I love these trucks modified suspension and motor wise, but I'm not into shaving and radical paint. Let's see what others have to say, keep em coming!

Re: Is your truck modified?
I guess I am in the middle. I like some modifying but there is a limit. My trucks are mostly lifted and big tires and exhaust for now. Want to do some motor hopping up and some decent paint work down the road.

Re: Is your truck modified?
Everything I own is either lifted or lowered, headers and aftermarket exhaust. The 71 GMC currently under construction is a Ramjet 350/Hughes 700R4, lowered, etc. Nothing really radical 'cuz these trucks look good stock. I just can't drive anything stock!

Re: Is your truck modified?
mine started out as a clean all options 84 gmc . drove it for 2 years as a daily driver flowmaster and stereo head unit only mods. then I got sick of crap mileage and told wife if it's gonna suck gas, it needs to slap curbs. in went the 454 2 winters ago, built 700r wt 2400, 3" exhaust/hooker/wieand/holley/yadda yadda, flip kit, coils/ spindles/body this winter, of course that is getting out of hand...shaving etc...still cant decide on paint scheme, love flames although the suede look is just so cool, slammed, suede, loud, fast has it's allure, then again, shiny black, traditional flames etc...decisions decisions..

Re: Is your truck modified?
Well, I like modified and my heart dreams of all the modifications I could make to my 86. My only problem is all my time, money and energy is going into the 68's modification and restoration. Right now my 86 is all stock except for new dual exhaust, an aftermarket carb and late model steering wheel. Even with low miles, I believe the 305 is petering out on me, so I'm gonna start preparing to put a new 350 in it. I would also like to lower it a little for a make it mine look. I'll never chrome out a DD engine anymore(too much work). What I like to see is built and modified engines and trucks that look stock.

That's if you're the type of person that buys vehicles to resell them. Mine was modified before it left the dealership in 1977. Stock is cool, but not my style.

No one keeps there truck forever, we all have to die someday......a stock vehical will fetch more money, then a modified vehical with double/triple the money into it..... The way I see it by keeping it stock, I have no problem finding parts from a jobber, there just as easy to put on, as in 1986. It will always look sexy, and run beautifully. For what I need the truck for, this one does it with ease.... I will post pics of mine soon Just my 2 cents Duro |

I've posted in the past that I will keep my truck till the day I die...at that point the truck and street rods will be given away....not sold. I hear people say "everyone has a price" that they would sale their vehicle, I'm not rich but I really don't need the money that badly. Hey, I've been known to buy cars and turn them to make a profit....some very nice cars (If you would like me to post some of them I will) much nicer than just about any truck. Most were bought as a partnership and the profits were split. But I do own vehicles I will not sale and my family will not sale them when I'm gone. They will give them away. The people that will receive these may very well sale them. But I have a feeling they will keep them till they die also. What I'm trying to say is money is not everything to some of us. Call us sentimental. OH! and by the way I do love the look of a good clean stock or mostly stock truck......they bring back fond memories.
