Re: What Did You Do This Weekend?

It's now 5:00 am, still at work. Night shift can really blow sometimes. All I did was take the studded snows off my daughters car. Slept during the day, worked 12 hour shifts at night.

I dropped the engine and tranny in the truck yesterday, but ran out of time and didn't get everything bolted on and hooked up.

Re: What Did You Do This Weekend?

I can finally participate in one of these threads!!!

I did the following (in no particular order):
Changed the rear end dope.
Found out what gear I have (via counting the teeth - 3.07 if you are wondering).
Setup my rear brakes.
Bled all my brakes.
Fixed a leaky hose on my underdash HVAC unit.
Installed my power garage door opener on my specified "truck bay".
BUT THE BIGGEST NEWS OF ALL this weekend...

I built some custom speaker mounts to go in the kick panel floor area that hold 6-1/2"s that work with the e-brake, and vents!!! And yes, I will be able to make templates. Don't ask for pics or templates - when I get them, I get them.

The driver side vent is only about 90% functional, but heck, I don't care, I'd rather have the speakers.

Re: What Did You Do This Weekend?

Put in my new Vintage Air Heater in my 72 truck, change the oil in that also and put a new carb. spacer on.

Change the oil in my 96 SS too, and clean it up. Spent a lot of time in the shop this weekend cleaning and organizing too.

Re: What Did You Do This Weekend?

Got the fog light kit wired, wasted my time trying to figure out why the truck isn't charging properly on the '67.

Changed the oil and fuel filter on the Z71.

Re: What Did You Do This Weekend?

On my '70 c10: I took out the side windows and vent windows which are illegally tinted (PO) and replaced them with the windows/vent windows from my '69.
On my '69 c10: I removed the springs and shocks. started to remove the front crossmember and rear axle.
Cleaned out some more of the garage so I can have more room to work. I also took a load of truck parts from the '69 to my storage unit.

Re: What Did You Do This Weekend?

Got stuck in a farmers back yard with 18 bails of hay in the back of my truck. He had to tow me with his tractor about a half mile to the driveway.

I need new tires.

Re: What Did You Do This Weekend?

Congratulation on the new soon to be wife.

I didn't work on the truck because I was the race this weekend. I left St. Augustine about 8AM stopped and had breakfast at the World Golf Village. Got to Daytona about 10:30 partied tailgated and walked around doing some shopping getting stuff for family members. Got into the stands about 2:30 and drank beer and watched the race from turn 4.

Stuart, Busch x2, and Jr all wrecked or ended up right in front of me. I will get pics when I get them developed and scanned.

Re: What Did You Do This Weekend?

Don't cha hate it when you go out to make some progress on something and you end up a few steps back from where you started?

Case in point, went out to do brake line work yesterday afternoon (yes that is not a typo - I got to work on my K5 during the day!). I was going to bend up the new front brake lines but decided first I woud redo the master cylinder lines so the correct lines were going to the correct spot on the proportioning valve. Of course the fittings on the master and the cylinder are all different so rather than just being able to flip the porportioning valve I had to take the old lines, cut them, then put a fitting from this line on that line and vise versa. Got one line done simply enough but the second line I had to redo over and over - kinked it once, screwd up a bend too bad to fix a second time, then ran out of 1/4" line.

So, there ya go, one step back + no work on the actual front brake lines.

Re: What Did You Do This Weekend?

spent some time working on the disassemble of another bed i bought last week. got all but 2 bolts out of the driver side, the only 2 that remain are those retarded giant phillips headed bolts. i hope a giant phillips socket exists for those, becuase i have the right size screw driver for them, im just unable to exert the force needed to turn them out.

and today i sanded down one side of the tailgate that came with the bed. got all the rust ground off, and then primed it (even tho i didnt fill the dings yet, i just wanted to get the bare metal covered). also tweaked my carb a bit, and today it only took 2 attempts to get her to idle from cold without dying.

i actually am still fumbling my way thru the carb setup... im idling what i would say is really fast, but when i put it in gear, it sounds normal. im not sure all my vacuum linkages to the carb are functional either.

Re: What Did You Do This Weekend?

Pulled my engine. Need to put in a new rear main seal and can't do it with an after market 7qt. pan. Going to try a different intake and do a basic "check up" on the motor, tranny, differential, wheel bearings, etc.
Need to get ready for the 2nd annual board get together in July.
