I just did this last week. I took off the nut, then used penetrating oil. Then I tapped on it all around and it began to ease off.

There is a special puller/installer for power steering pump pulleys. You can get one from Harbor Freight for about $20 or rent one at your local AutoZone. Also, make sure you took the nut off if it is an original keyed pulley. FYI, the press on pulley for the SWP will NOT line up with the OEM crankshaft PS pulley. You will have to buy a 75 Corvette crankshaft PS pulley and pump pulley. Summit sent me the wrong style pump when I got an AGR steering set up from them, and I learned this the expensive way... Also, the Corvette crank pulley won't line up with the alternator, water pump and AC compressor.

Is the pump out of the truck?
When you get your new pulley put some anti-sieze on the shaft before you put it together. You'll love it next time you take it off.

jimmy try putting some heat to it to see if it will come off. then when you go back with the new one, if you dont have a press to press it on, dont use a bfh on it, take the pump and put it in the frezer for about an hour, while it is in the freezer, put the pully in the oven, set at about 300 degrees, then the pully will slide right on with out damage to it, once you get it in the right place on the shaft, hit it with water to equalize the temps of the shaft and the pully,

Are we talking two different styles of pulleys here? I didnt think the keyway/nut style was pressed on. Just a tight fit sometimes and hard to come off if its been there 30 yrs.

you need the puller that has the U shape with the heavy flange at the bottom and a bolt going down through the middle. the flange goes throught the slot in the hub of the pulley and the screw in the middle works like any other puller.
