Header info needed

I know this has been asked a few times. Which headers are the best for the value? I have Flow Tech full lengths on my 86 and would like to go with a shorty when I get the motor swapped. Thanks

Re: Header info needed

Here is a post from another forum I'm a member of about short headers.

I've heard from people (IRL and here on these boards) that say they are "junk" and "a waste of money". they dont give any noticable horsepower gains, or increases in performance.

I've heard that one is better off getting real headers.
I have a set of these to install on mine. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Re: Header info needed

I've got Hooker comps on my 85(painted). The passenger side header laid right on the starter. I had to put a small dimple in them so as not to fry the starter. I'm still going to install a mini starter for additional clearance. I'm thinking now that Flowtechs would have "fit" the build better. East wood sales header and manifold paint. I've got a set of Flowtechs painted, but the engine hasn't been fired yet.

Re: Header info needed

I'll use what I've got. I just wanted to know how hard it is to get over the trans. cross member and figured shorties would be easier. Thanks

Re: Header info needed

I'm also wondering what headers are best for the price, and can full lenght headers work on a truck with a 5-7 drop?
