Are lug nuts different in 1/2 & 3/4 ton?

I ordered some wheels for my '71 Custom Camper. The lug nuts they sent me seem to be a wee bit too small. Is it possible they sent me lug nuts for a 1/2 ton and they therefore won't fit on my 3/4 ton truck?

Lug nuts on a '71 3/4 should be 9/16". I think drum-braked models used 1/2" lugs. Sure, it's possible they got that mixed up.

By "wee bit too small" do you mean they go on but the threads tend to bind up after they start on? If they do then they're probably the wrong thread on a 9/16". A 1/2" nut wouldn't even start on a 9/16" lug.

They won't even start. I really want to get the wheels on there. They look kinda sad just lying on the floor next to the truck. Any one know what how much 32 lug nuts will cost me at Autozone or Hi-Lo or even Walmart?

It's been about a year, but I shopped around the whole town (which is near you) and most places wanted $.80 to $1.20 per nut. That adds up quick for 32. Advance, however, was only asking $.49 and I bought them out of lug nuts that day. This was for the acorn type, and they usually don't go with custom wheels, though. I bet yours are a nicer type? Good luck. Ben
