burb hatch

met a guy selling the clam shell hatch and tailgate complete with good glass and no rust, no damage from a '67 burb. He won't tell me what he wants for it, he just wants me to make an offer. What should I offer?

Re: burb hatch

Have you seen it? Is it really rust free? I would be interested if it is really rust free. Let me know.

Actually, the seal around the glass wasn't the problem. It's under the rubber seal that seals the liftgate to the body. Tim, I never pulled the glass out of the liftgate, I just took the outer seal off.

Re: burb hatch

yes, I saw it. Looked really good. There was a newer seal around the glass (probably 10 years old). The latch assembly was all in place and seemed to work fine. He had other people interested in it too, thats why I was wondering what kind of offer I should make.

Re: burb hatch

I've seen a few burban tailgates online for about 80-100 bucks, looked like they were in pretty good condition from what I could see. Seals intact, no dings or rust for the most part. I haven't found any suppliers selling new ones but standard P/U tailgates can retail upwards of $200 new. So I guess the price is up to you

Re: burb hatch

yah, I guess I'll just offer him $200 if he hasn't sold it already.
