Why is that he has both ends of the 2x4 clamped off to somthing and his radiator stool is made for a 150-200lbs load

The stool is just sitting there I used it to set the radiator on while was putting it on the fan stand and the 2x4 is there for safety as in " Why not" don't know if I need it or not, I did notice though the store bought test stands didn't come with a 500lb bench to tie off to or the clamps. Sorry it does not please you but I don't have a high dollar fab shop such as you. I also don't have the nads to cut someone down without being there.

Looks Killer...and nothing like the sound of open headers

Sometimes you have to make due with what you got, and if its safe why not.

I agree with CDowns. It`s not the 2Xs that I`m worried about. It`s the static engine stand with long bolts through adjustable/moveable mounts that bothers me.I`d never do it.What`s the point?Don`t you have a truck to put it in?

16273 post to date between you and cdowns, Seems like those who talk the most usually know the least. Seems like with this you live at a key board, so how about looking shear and pull weight on a 3/8s bolt. The engine has 430 lbs of torque available but if you notice there is nothing tied to it so it is not a factor. Please show me yours or is it a computer simulation.

Richard H.

Engine looks and sounds good.

Rest....I agree with those that don't think it was the safest setup to run an engine. Those engine stands was not designed to have a running engine on it, regardless of the rating of the bolts. However, lets us keep civil tongues with so the thread is not closed. Just because people have a low or high count does not make then more or less knowledgeable.

Close the thread, If you look or read what i posted on the engine board on how to make one structurally safe. Notice I did not post it is a 430 hp turn key ? That's because a 71 C 10 isn't designed for it. Any thing you pull out of a box that says made in China needs to be re-designed , you have to replace all the corners they cut.

Thumbs up Re: Check out my new toy

i think anybody that can build a engine to the caliber of that one. and can test run it on top of that is very ingenious.
i personally want to thank richard for sharing his accomplishments with us here on the board.
looks and sounds great

Re: Check out my new toy

I guess some of us are a little foolish.I had a complete motor for sale with with headers .I set it on the shop floor ,run a rubber hose from the fuel pump to a gas can, water hose in thermo housing .hot wire to electronic distributor from battery on the floor and turned starter over with jumper cables to same battery.Buyer had $1000 cash and wanted to here it run.It may have been foolish but it only took a few minutes and I had $1000.

Re: Check out my new toy

Sounds mean. As to safety those same 3/8 bolts holds it when it is a car so where is that unsafe. The front is carrying it's own weight on the 2 by. If you think that is unsafe why would you think it is safe when it is hanging free with just those 4 bolts. Looks safe to me. Crank er off!!!!
