Assembly Manual Index????

Anyone ever run across an index for the 67-72 Factory Assembly Manual? Seems like whenever I need to find something it takes longer to locate the right page than it does to repair/replace the problem.
Thanks-Earle

Re: Assembly Manual Index????

I assume your talking about this book?

Yeah, it's a total pain to find stuff in it. It's not even organized. It's almost randomly thrown together. I spent a couple nights before bed and flipped through it and put post-it notes on pages I thought I would need to reference. The book has been very helpful.

Re: Assembly Manual Index????

Yup, that's the right manual.
Maybe you guys wouldn't mind sending me a copy of your post-it notes.
Uh, wait a minute - that won't work will it?

The Corvette assembly manual has an index for it, but I guess this one don't.

Nice truck Redneck!

Re: Assembly Manual Index????

i have ran into the same situation. i love the book, but it is nearly impossible to find something in it when yo uare working on the truck at that moment. i tend to do what was mentioned above & just look a night or two before & just post-it to death....

i have thought about going through it on a weekend & just make my own index with page numbers.

you think it would (could) work??? it would for sure take some time.

just an idea ....

Re: Assembly Manual Index????

If we could get a few folks interested we could divide the book up and "assign" certain pages to certain people. That way no one would have to do the whole thing.
If I remember right, the book has a major section for the '67 and then supplement sections for the changes in each year after '67. Maybe if 2-3 people did the '67 section and each year 68-72) went to one other person we could get-r-done.

Like you - just a thought. Let's see what response we get.
