I installed the leaf springs on a 72 chev 1/2 ton. The spacing in the wheel well does not seem right, it sits to far forward in the wheel well. I have mesured the springs from the front eye to the centre bolt. It measures 24 inches, the centre to the rear eye is 28 inches. I have turned them around and either way they are to close to the front or back. The springs I installed were off a long box and I installed them on a short box. Does anyone know what there's measures. Does anyone have any close up pictures of wheel well spacing. Also any pictures with Early Classics 4 inch rear leaf spring drop. Thanks

Thats the way the wheel looks in my 69 3/4 ton with leafs, its centered towards the front a bit.

mine is also slightly towards the front also.

My old 3/4 ton, and the one ton both like that too.

Mine is also towards the front of the opening. The front of the spring is bolted to the frame. The rear of the spring is attached with an extra swivel point. This will provide the movement that is necessary when you load the pickup (the spring is effectively longer with the full load). I believe the wheel will be closer to centered when the pickup is full loaded. If they were centered with no load, I don't think it would hit with full load, but it might be close.

My 71 3/4 is centered to the front also and I have seen several like that. I thought about turning my springs arount to center it empty but them my drive shaft wouldn't be long enough. Its close with 33x12.50's on the back too!

Thanks for the help. I was comparing it to me coil spring truck and it is alot more centred compared to the leaf truck.
