Re: Identify this rear axle for me

3/4 ton stuff... Its a Corp. 14 bolt from '73+, it's a full floater too. Very GOOD rearend if you ask me, popular to get parts for, cheap to buy, cuz they are everywhere, cheap to build... Gov locks suck if you plan on building it for a 4x4... Pop the diff cover and see what kinda gears she's got. Oh yea, the mounts will work on a half ton, like if you plan on replacing a 10 bolt or 12, that 14 bolt should bolt right into its spot...perches are the same width. You can disc brake them for pretty cheap too.

Re: Identify this rear axle for me

Not that familiar with rear axle terminology. What is a full floater? When would you use it - would it be if the gear ratio is better than your 12 bolt? Is there a way to make the gov lock better?

I have one of these laying around and was just wondering what it could be used for or should I just sell it. Thanks

Re: Identify this rear axle for me

Full floaters are desirable because you can break a axle shaft and your wheel wont fall off,you can stilll drive home, assuming you have another axle turning the wheels.Thats why the offroaders want them.Gov-lock is junk,no way to improve IMO,replace it with a detroit locker or something similar.Semi Floaters are just junk, you break a axle and bye bye goes the wheel and tire.
