Angry I don't friggin believe this!!!!

I come out this afternoon, and the first thing I see on my truck is a bunch of "water" on rear window. Upon closer inspection, it turns out that the "water" is in fact my rear window SHATTERED!!! It's in a million pieces, but still intact!

I just finished replacing the center bearing yesterday, and now this! It's going to take me years to find a friggin replacement window! All of the trucks around here are either on the road, in which case the owner would be VERY unhappy if I took thier glass, and ther other trucks are in the junkyard----with NO glass!

This truck is cursed! Either that or someone has a vendetta against the truck!

Son of a b#tch!

EDIT:

There was a purpose to this post, besides venting! Are the 67-72 years all similar in rear window glass? I have the single pane, and if all years are the same, that might be my only chance at replacing it.

Welp, time to get out the clear packaging tape and tape it up so you can drive it around until you get a new window.

Thanks, I might just take you up on the offer

Blue_71:

I think it was vandalism, as I can see where whatever hit the window, left a tiny mark, and the smashed glass radiates off this tiny mark like a central starting point.

Grrrr....little buggers!

LOL, yeah! It actually looks kind of neat, looks sort of like frosted glass! But I know as soon as I start the truck, the window's going to come in on me! Yep, time for the tape.

Joe, lots and I mean lots of rear windows out here in Saskatoon. I often throw them away. Let me know if you can't find one local and I will track you one down. I can probably find a free ride for it too but it would take quite a while for that.

Sounds to me like you have a kid on the block loose with a BB gun, maybe his new birthday toy?

Other glass is easier to pull than windshields. Just cut the weatherstrip from the inside. Number one caue of broken glass is the lawnmower. Cut your grass same day?

I threw many away also but still have one. I went for sliding rear windows. I couldn't guaratee it would not break in shipping though.
I'd say there's a BB gun toting vandal in your region. I had that done to my truck one day also...I paid like $100 for a window cause it was dead of winter and it was my going to work vehicle, and only vehicle.

StingRay:

Man, if you could find one, I'd pay the shipping! GLADLY!!!

Finding one around here is almost next to impossible! When any of the 67-72 trucks show up at the wreckers, people are like vultures all over it! They see a part they're looking for, destroy everything around it to get at that one part, and to hell with the rest of us! I saw a few out at my local pick a part, but they were thoroughly picked over. You also get these jackasses out there that break glass for the hell of it, which pisses the people off that need that same piece of glass!

It wouldn't have been a lawnmower, as the front of my truck faces my lawn, so if anything, it would have been the windshield broken. Might have been a BB Gun, but there's no little holes anywhere. The window's still intact, but looks like a spider web, with a nick in the center. Every mm of the window is cracked though!

If you felt living driving down to Seattle from Okanagon I have one you can have for free. Of course you would pass 10-12 junkyards on your way down that were full of 67-72's on your way down here but thats besides the point.

That sucks Joe! There's all kinds of trucks in Alberta if you know anyone over here. The pick-your-part yards get these trucks sometimes and the rear glass is usually intact, and sells for about $10-15. I have also thrown away many in the last year.

Couldn't a glass shop cut you a piece, as it's just flat safety glass? Don't know what it would cost, but should be cheaper than shipping one across the country. That stuff is heavy!

Good luck,

Brian

you know whats odd about this is that every single glass ive puled off 67-72s out here always have been tempered safety glass and now a few montha ago i came across the first ever flat pane plastic film center glass like in the old '50's and older days, it was on a 70 cab. never seen anything except tempered glass on 67-72 cabs until then, well at least 68-72 anyways,

wierd..
possible chance that maybe tempered is not original and is repacement glass ?
hmmm
wheres that data sheets book at...
i have several of these back glasses still, i swear ive tossed at least 10 or 12 into junk cars just since last fall.
theyre free if you can get to where members lie me have some.,

good luck, sorry that that happened, if it happened to somone like me then id juist pick one up out of my yard and toss it in and go on my merry way cost= $0, just like anything else that may get busted, ever.

If the stock glass is flat ( I believe it is), go to the local glass shop (windows etc.) and they should be able to cut one for you real cheap.
