Porterbuilt Blazer Project

Here's a rendering and some pics of a blazer we will be putting together for a customer. The rendering was done by Carter... a.k.a. Blaze-air (he does some incredible stuff). The 2WD will be getting a Dropmember C4 up front, C4 back-half out back, 20 and 22" wheels, GenIII SBC, shockwaves, thorough shaving, custom dash, custom console, custom rear tonneau/hatch, smoothed tail, 67 front clip, chopped and laid-back windshield posts, cut doors and smoothed rails (topless roadster). It will also be a four seater. This thing has lots of rust, so we will be replacing a whole bunch of sheetmetal.

Looks good, sounds like a lot of the ideas I have for mine. Good luck with the project. Looks like you are off to a good start.

A lot of ideas incorporated in this build are not unique, maybe a few unique twists, but it will yield a clean end result. We're going for clean and practical on this one. (well, as practical as I can get!)

Here you go, wish you started with a rust free tub huh? Going to start back on mine as soon as I get my 72 driver on the road.

Re: Porterbuilt Blazer Project

This one looked a lot cleaner BEFORE it went to the blaster! It would have been nice to have as fresh a tub as you have!

Re: Porterbuilt Blazer Project

I got lucky with mine. I bought it almost 12 years ago and was CLEAN!! Drove it for a while and then tore it down. It reminded me of a Sunkist can with the orange paint and white top. I had to tear it down. I only paid 4000.00 for it with a rebuilt motor and all. Looks like I am going to have to buy a dropmember for it now since I keep robbing all of the new parts from it to build my 72 truck. What do you have planned for the rear floor. I really hate to cut up my rear floor as clean as it is.

I will be replacing most of it, if not all of it, with new sheetmetal... be patient and you will see!

Not enough . We are currently a three-and-a-half ring circus.

Kyle's blazer will be leaving SOON. He should have the hinges to me tomorrow for the hood. This blazer will be moving forward slowly for the next month or two... then get hammered on.

Is it hard to find quality help in AZ? I just started managing another bodyshop in Houston, Tx and suprisingly the bodymen there are very good with straightening panels as well as just hanging parts. I just might have to keep them.

It's hard to find guys that know what they're doing at minimum wage!

More employees = more headaches = Nathan becomes manager of employees and doesn't get to fabricate the cool stuff = unhapy Nathan.

Re: Porterbuilt Blazer Project

I know what you mean about unhappy. If I could get paid for what I know and how to do I would rather work on 67-72 trucks, blazers and burbs for a living. I told my girlfriend tonight why we couldnt have been the ones that won that 360 million dollars lottery. She responded by saying that I had to buy a ticket first...... Smart ass.
