Anyone make drop spindles for 72 3/4 ton?
I just posted about tire selection in the rear. I got the bfg 245 75 16's in the front, and they will fit with drop spindles, but I can't seem to find any for the 3/4 ton. I know everyone here likes the 1/2 ton, but this one is a one owner, with no rust ever, and has all original paperwork, transit tags, warrenty card, registrations, keychains, etc.... I am keeping this truck because it is so solid, and I was born in 72. Also, I just put a 425hp 454 in it and it's got the dana 60 rear end. Any suggestions, let me know! Thanks guys. I'll post pix as soon as I can.

Re: Anyone make drop spindles for 72 3/4 ton?
sounds like the guys that used to manufacturer them did a crappy job on the castings and they wouldn't ever fit right, so everyone quit carrying them. I was told by CPP that I should just do the shocks and 3" drop springs in the front. Any cons or pros with this? I am also going to have to lower the rear, and want to do an axle flip. Anyone have a supplier for this type of kit for the 3/4ton leaf spring truck with a dana 60?

Re: Anyone make drop spindles for 72 3/4 ton?
Another alternative is a raised lower control arm which in effect lowers the truck. Charlie's Drop Shop in Portland, OR has been doing this for many years. His shop was called So-Lo Products at one time. He is a great guy and has a HUGE reputation among the street rod scene.
Do a google search or inquire here on the board. I know several members have used his shop for various services. This procedure basically spaces the lower ball joint say 2 inches above the stock location. The spindle and the upper arm do not change. You get the drop due to the frame winding up 2 inches lower. The spring can be cut a minimal amount for additional drop. IIRC he sells these on an exchange basis or maybe outright. This can be done for 1/2, 3/4, or 1T. I would expect this would be available for any GM truck from early 60,s to say 87. I don't know the newer(88+) stuff well enough to even make a guess. Check it out - Bob

Re: Anyone make drop spindles for 72 3/4 ton?
I just got in my c/20 drop spindles and springs from Early Classic. I went with a 2.5" spindle, and 2" springs. I got the conversion spindles as I'm going with 1/2 ton rotors and swapping out this giant 8 bolt rear for a 1/2 ton 5. He told me with these spindles I could use a 6 lug rotor, (only available from them) or the stock 1/2 ton 5 lug rotors. I chose the 5 as I don't want to be chained to them for rotors forever. anyways... these spindles use the stock c/20 ball joints and tie rods. ran me about $430.00 shipped to WI.. heres pics

Brothers also sells 6 lug rotors. They are for the 1.25" spindle on 73-up 1/2t trucks. I talked to ECE and they told me the same, theirs will work on the stock spindle.

Re: Anyone make drop spindles for 72 3/4 ton?
I guess after talking to some more people, I can get buy with 2 or 3" drop springs, I think from cpp. They're like $90 bucks for the pair. I would also need the new doetch tech shocks for $75 a pair. I don't want to order them until I figure out how much I am going to lower the rear. I am going to flip the rear springs to the bottom, and don't know yet what that'll do for drop in inches. (anyone know off hand?) from there, I guess I can put a lowering shackle in the rear for more.... Nor really sure the best way to do this. I am definitely going to put some type of traction bars on it. It looks like cal trac makes one for the flipped axle. Anyone see these or use these yet? Thanks again for all the help. I am picking up my truck tonight! I'll post some pix. thanks. Justin

Re: Anyone make drop spindles for 72 3/4 ton?
I bought my 8-LUG DISC BRAKES, 2" Drop spindles, 1" frt. drop springs, 5" rear springs, 4 new shocks, panhard bar, tie-rod ends, Booster & MC. from PERFORMANCE ONLINE.com
Really pleased with the heavy duty aspect of all the new components. One of the best parts of the swap is all the knowledgeable folks at Performance Online - phone in help/ order desk. here are a couple of pics,,, this way I can still use my existing wheels,.... jim
