Laying out a 69

Im wanting to lay out my 69 to the rockers without doing a body drop. I know I will have to either do a crossmember drop or a frame z. But I dont know which one ill need. Ive got an 8 inch notch in back so it will be no problem. Will I have to move the body mounts any? Thanks

Pretty sure you won't be able to get to the rockers unless you move the body mounts. The frame is below the pinch weld. I just got my sectioned x-member back from CaptKaos, but just that won't lay out the frame up front. I've got an 8" step notch out back so I'm set there. If I wanted to lay it out I'd need to Z it also. You could always lop off some of the frame under the cab and then box it in with square tubing.

you guys must be running some small wheels because you wont come close to laying out on 20's with an 8" notch. I've got a 9" notch with a 29" tire and I'm about an 1" from laying out.

my brothers truck lays with an 8 inch notch and 20's.

if you have a 29 inch tall tire and your 1 inch from laying out, then on a 27 inch tall tire you'd be laid...

Re: Laying out a 69

Could you just drop the cab mounts an inch and then be able to lay rocker not just pinch? I am doing a 4 inch z at the firewall then if I dropped the cab mounts an inch the z would have to be 5 inches at the radiator for everything to line back up. Thats what I was thinkin

You can lay out with a dropped crossmember and taking out your body mounts. Shorten them up to about 3/16 thick. Thats what we did on our truck and it laid the rocker on 20's. The body will sit below the frame.

Re: Laying out a 69

if you drop your body mounts 1 inch you should lay rockers thats what i did and with a 8 in notch 27 inches is about as tall as you can go.
