TBI removal from 350
Anyone removed the entire TBI and electronics from a sbc? I can't imagine its that difficult but if you have any advice please post. My situation: Have a 350 TBI from an '87 van that runs good. Will be removing it from said van and will be putting this motor in my '78 pick-up. I want to keep this swap as simple as possible. I just don't want to deal with electronics and fuel injection on a vehicle that will see minimal use. I obviously will switch to running a carb and instead of the 700R4 in the van, the 350 will be bolting up to a turbo 350 trans thats just been rebuilt. Any pointers?

The heads on that engine are catty cornered. You will have to get an edelbrock intake, mine was non egr so it number was 1407.
as for removal its pritty straight forward and just unbolts like everything else.

Center intake bolts for FI engines are at a different angle. You can enlarge the holes in a normal manifold or just buy the Edelbrock manifold. CR will be in the 8.5 range for 87. Be sure to get all the accessory drive and exhaust manifolds, just in case.

Catty cornered bolt are the 4 bolt around the tbi or carb area is off set to anther angel then the other bolt on the intake. The other 8 bolts 4 in the rear of the block and the 4 in the front are the angle of the older blocks.
I dont know compression is but i do know ive done this swap in my 86 sliverado and smoke tire off the truck. Heres my engine if this helps any If you look hard enough on the bad polarid you can see the bolt around the carb sit at a different angle then the rest.

I found out this motor is rated at 200 h and 300 t in stock form. Thats all I need so hopefully it will stay in the same ballpark when its simplified into carb'd form. The picks of your motor look so clean without all that TBI stuff on there |

Here it is in the truck just so you can see how it is in the truck. Having a carb truck make life nice i know tbi get better milage and better responce, but i like how simple it is to tune and adjust. That and im not the greatest person around electronics/computers.
