What did you get done? 03/25

I was off this weekend so I managed to get a few things done. I took my wife's 03 Denali XL and put new tires on it. We plan to put it on the market and the tires were looking worn.

While I was at it I replaced the battery too. The old battery decided it wasn't going to do it job so it got retired.

I haven't cranked my 77 in a month so it got uncovered and fired up. I let it warm up then put it back under the cover. This week I'll start cleaning it up for Spring.

Today I closed the deal on the factory tires and wheels from the Denali. I have to deliver them to Brenham next Saturday, but I got my asking price so I don't mind a little road trip.

What did you get done?

Saturday I worked all day, then went to see my cousins daughter. She's 4 years old, and a little angel.

Today I went to the Severed Ties truck show in Phoenix. Good show!

Re: What did you get done? 03/25

I didnt get much done on the truck side, just washed the trucks underside with pressure washer so i know shes clean. But i did start working on my chevelle again. Took all the brackets that hold the car together and sanded and painted each piece so i know they will last and look good doing it.

As soon as i have film i take some pictures.

Re: What did you get done? 03/25

Didn't get a lot done this weekend, the most exciting part I guess was picking up my freshly jammed fenders, hood, and front valance. Once I got them home, I undercoated the insides of the hood and fenders (I am really pleased with how they turned out!). I also managed to get a lot of the small parts for them cleaned/blasted and painted. I hope to install the front clip next weekend, but have to finish up a few other things before then.

Re: What did you get done? 03/25

Started off real tired today. Took a nap around 10 got the call I was waiting for from my friend and had to run down and take the motorcycle liscence test. 3 of us took our tests I went second and thought I had failed it. They made the cone course 5 feet shorter per cone. It was confusing but I passed barley.

Tomorrw I need to run down to the DMV and get my new liscence then run over to the speed shop and see if they have BBC power steering brackets. Hopefully I'm only going to work monday and then the rest of the week I'm taking off.

Re: What did you get done? 03/25

Got back from Vegas Friday morning after taking the red eye. Was glad to be home. Was sick for a day and a half in Vegas, wife was not happy about that.
We did get to see some shows and other stuff. Had enough after 4 days, total I blew $50 on slots, won $20, and cashed out, I'm not a gambler.
Finally had time to take my new wheels to get mounted, I have had them in my garage for like 3 weeks, never even opened them, so I drop off my truck w/ wheels in back, get a call from tire shop, they said my wheels are dented and scratched...&^*(
Drove back down there, sure enough, scratches, dents and looked awful, so I called Coy's, they were there on a Saturday, they said they would send out a new set on Monday.
I can't believe this will be the third set of wheels for this truck! I think I have 100 miles on the truck since December. Hopefully this time they will be right.
Cut the front yard Saturday morning.
/my endless rambling.

The set that is on my truck is spoken for...
I am returning the set in my garage when I get the new ones.
Some would say I am coming out ahead on this deal...I say w/ the headaches, it's hard to tell.

Sold my 73C20 and delivered it to the new owner. Pretty happy to have it sold. No time for projects right now, so hopefully the new owner will finish the truck!

Re: What did you get done? 03/25

I spent yesterday @ work again & today I pulled the bed off my 68 to facilitate making some new rear shock brackets. I got the top mounts completed & dropped the bed back down on the frame until next weekend.

I wish I could get 2 solid days back to back & get more done.

Enjoyed the weekend here at the dorms by myself since my room mate went back home. Searched for another 73-87 the whole time and might have one lined up to go take a look at. Practiced drums and bass guitar a little too. Just takin it easy pretty much.

Re: What did you get done? 03/25

Saturday I slept till noon, the worked on my senior design project, then in the evening I tore down the vacuum lines of my friend's new '95 Pontiac GTP. Sunday I again slept till noon, then worked on the GTP again - replaced all vacuum lines I could find and reach, tested all the others for leaks (there were none), replaced the idle control valve, and installed new rear rotors and pads. Overall result is now the car starts like it's supposed to, idles like it's supposed to, and brakes better than it's supposed to

Good news about my truck is I found a cheap and effective way to do a dual exhaust system, it's gonna run me under $100 and work great. The bad news is since my friend with the GTP is pretty much broke I had to buy her all the new parts with my own funds, and now I'm broke too, lol

Re: What did you get done? 03/25

This weekend I started working on getting my Suburban drivable. It had a tendency to die when slowing down. It was throwing codes previously and I replaced the IAC and EGR, that fixed the codes, but not the stalling, so I replaced all of the suspec vacuum lines still didn't fix it. That has been a while, but I got time to start driving it this weekend and started pulling hoses to see what the suspect was. As my luck goes, it was the last one I pulled, the Booster hose. It appears it is bad causing it to die as I drove it around (with no booster vacuum) for about 20 minutes without stalling.

I also washed both the Burb and the R10 and clay bar'd the hood of the R10.

Sunday I was going to replace the booster, but I ended up having to go and pickup a donor car that I didn't expect to have to do but the guy I bought it from was going to "help" me out and cut the rearend out of it and give the rest of the donor to him for scrap. I guess he forgot I paid for ALL of the car not just the rearend...

Now I gotta figure out how to get rid of the body!

Yeah, but there isn't going to be that much metal left when I cut it apart.

Don't shed to many tears, it appears it was smacked in the front pretty bad. He found it for parts to fix his '93 and it had been sitting for like 3 years, then he stripped it and it sat for another year until I found out he had it.

Re: What did you get done? 03/25

friday i went to a car auction, then to a church function, then saturday we fixed the riding lawn mower, and then i went to the casino with my grandparents, sunday i went to church, then went to my grandparents and ate, then went to a friends to help pull the motor out of my old red car i sold, i go over there then he says he has to drive to his dads to change the oil,and oil, fuel,&air filters, then we washed the outside, and pressure washed the inside of it, then i went back to pulling the motor out of the red car, worked on removing stuff for a little bit, then went to church, then back over there, got the rest of the bolts out, and pulled the motor and tranny out, cut the rest of the exhaust off, and set all of it on the floor, now it's twin turbo time!

Sat I worked outside... mowed the yard, helped wife and daughter plant a few flowers, and spent about 4 hours bent over cutting weeds to clear a path through the wooded area on the property.. I am making a walking/running/mountain biking trail... got about 1/4-1/2 mile cut.. back was too sore on Sunday to do much.. I layed around most of the day.
