Rear Disc brakes by Blackbirds Custom
Hi Everyone,
I want rear disks only because of the "bling" factor and the wheels I want to buy. Do the calipers Blackbird uses look okay? So, does anyone know if they are going to run another $350 special? I didn't own my truck last time and they gave a teaser about running it again in the spring. Well, spring time is here... Maybe if we get enough people... anyone else interested in rear disks?

Re: Rear Disc brakes by Blackbirds Custom
I've looked @ alot of these 'kits' in my research & there's one common complaint I have w/these companies..... why isn't the rotor size/type listed in the parts descriptions?
It sure would be nice to know what size rotor I was looking at.

Do you need to change out the master cylinder when you put rear discs on?

Drink once said that they could not "Publish" all of the spec's or you might
just be able to go out and get all the stuff yourself, buisness is buisness.

Re: Rear Disc brakes by Blackbirds Custom
TSM has good kits.
You can buy weld on caliper mounts from several places. From what i have seen BlackBird stuff is expensive not that for some people its not worth it.

Re: Rear Disc brakes by Blackbirds Custom
If you PM the maker of Blackbird he will tell you the OD of the rotors. I did this a while ago and found out, although I have forgotten by now.

Re: Rear Disc brakes by Blackbirds Custom
all of the aftermarket caliper brackets i have seen [ i'm not saying all but what i have and others i've seen] support the caliper on just the thickness of the bracket un like factory brackets that support the caliper in at least two points where they slide. when i do my next truck i will use a set of factory brackets from either a eldorodo or a 4wd front. the brackets i've seen are suitable for a template forcutting the arc on whatever set of factory brackets you chose and nothing more imo

Re: Rear Disc brakes by Blackbirds Custom
By converting to rear disks, does anyone know how much if at all does it move the rear wheel outward?

Re: Rear Disc brakes by Blackbirds Custom
i guess this might be a little off topic but i purchased the rear disk kit from classic performance products (cpp). i am very happy with the whole kit & they seem to work really well. i paid alot more then the sale price that you guys are mentioning, but the kit was very easy to install, no fab work needed at all. for the price that you guys are mentioning though, unless there is alot of fab work needed, i would be interested as well!!!
that is avery good price.... rodstored-72 |

Re: Rear Disc brakes by Blackbirds Custom
Well...Well..Well... Trying to call me out.......
I see how this is going to go.... hhmmm.. Lets really see what I said in the october special sale we did.. Shall we....http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...7&postcount=20 To tell you guys the truth, we have not been thinking of doing a sale this spring. We have been busy at the shop with alot of local customers and sales off of another message board..SSHHH.... As I always state, we are an option out of many on the internet. You guys do know I will gladly tell you replacement part numbers after you have become a customer. As for a proportion valve. We leave that up to the customer. It is ultimately thier choice how they want their pedal to feal and work. I have stated before, I have personally installed over 15 kits on vehicles without changing the valve. All of those vehicles are still on the road with happy customers. I have sold some kits that people have changed out the valve and said it helped. I will tell you... If you already have brake problems please try to fix that before ordering a kit from us or anyone else. the thought that rear disc would fix the issue seems to not really fix the issue... Now back to the post at hand....... I talked with Randy Blackbird, you know.. 'cause were friends ![]() I am not sure how we could do this. He said if there were atleast 5 people from the board SERIOUSLY interested in getting that same type of deal. He would consider doing it for a 1.. I repeat.. a 1 day sale with the crazy business of the shop right now, we can't afford the time to carry longer than that. So I ask.. If you are serious about getting the "buy a kit without calipers and get free non-ebrake calipers with them" Then Please PM me.. If i get atleast 5 board members by lets say...........Friday........Then would it be safe to say we could make a date for a day next week for the sale..... Again.. PM me before by midnight Friday night with what type of kit you are interested in...Please only serious customers.. click here for Products and Pricing pages
