just totally hosed.
so december 11th i got rearended in my 69 gmc 2500 lwb fully restored other than the 383 in it. nice 4 speed D60 2wd truck. well the impact was 50mph+ totalled my truck and sent me to the hospital. im doin fine just sore as hell still. the ranger that hit me was towed away, my sisters boyfreind put the battery back into the tray fired up my gmc and drove the old girl home
 thank god for american muscle. so hopefully i can find another old ride but with the new kid and school its not looking good. have a good one guys if any of you know where i can get a 67-72 gmc in decent condition drivetrain dosent matter let me know, pnw trucks are just so hard to find without major rust. thanks guys hopefully nobody else has to endure cutting up there beauty like i have too.

That happend with my 78 Silverado. Just finished installing a complete - and I mean completely new driveline in it, along with a ton of other mechanicals. Not 300 miles after the rebuild someone ran into me head on and destroyed it. Being in college 250 miles from home I'm having a hard time seeing when I will ever get to swap that engine and all those parts into another truck...but 5 months later I still dont have another truck...or any transportation for that matter.
Hopefully the insurance will work out alright for you and you can get another truck. Might take a little time since it sounds like you have quite a busy life but I'm sure you will able to find something eventually. |

Was the cab/clip ok? Can you get away with buying a frame and bed?
I have a feeling the cab was probably damaged pretty badly?

Sorry about your accident and loss.
Are you willing to trailer one home from the San Francisco, Bay Area, California. I have a 1972 GMC 2500 Sierra Grande, I may let go of. The only rust I found so far is on the door but I have a pair of rust free doors. If I remember tomorrow I'll rip out the old carpet to check the floor for rust. Clear CA title, non-oped. If I do decide to get rid of it, it's because I need more space, so I don't intend to store it after its sold.

Hey...sorrry to hear about your wreck...is there anything salvageable on the truck? Where are you in WA? Eastern part of the state has some rust free trucks. The good thing about the PNW trucks is the frames are not rusty like in Midwest where they use salt. We might have some rust on the body due to leaves, pine needles and being left outside but the undercarriages are always rock solid.

Just got my 96 gmc sierra xcab z71 xlt totalled out by some doorknob. But the silver lining is that I bought a 97 outback, the 1970 GMC and the parts truck with 1 tons and 400sbc to put in it with the cash from the truck!!! That is w/out lawyers too.
But I doubt the totaling of a classic would cover the expense in it, nor the heartbreak. A classic project truck is an emotional attachment, often something we have dreamed of long before the reality. Gosh, I need a tissue...

Don't cut/part out your truck, untill you have been paid and YOU are satisfied with the results. They WILL try to railroad you, telling you that you HAVE to take there offer, but don't settle untill you are happy.

Thats abad one but I'm glad you are ok. I have been dealing with an accident for almost three years now. The truck can be replaced in the end but your health is whats important. Hope everything yurns out ok. RJ22
