looks like a 69 corvette, because in 68 they didnt have the engine specs in the console, but it does look like it has the right door handles for a 68... and the engine spec plate doesnt make sence, if it was a L71 it has 435/460, but only 10.25:1 compression, and if it was a L88 (as the hood indicates) it has to much horsepower... wierd got anymore pics?

probobly not the original motor and/ or not even a real big block car

If it was an L88 it would have a tag that says L88 like this tag I have for a ZL1... I also have the L88 tag but this is the only picture I have on photobucket.. If I get a chance I will post the L88 tag later.. Mark

thats wierd... i worked at a corvette shop for 3 years, seen dozens of real big block cars, even drove a few and ive never seen a tag like that... they all looked like the one in the picture of the console. is that a reproduction? my cousin has an all original 69 l88 car.. i'll call him up and find out waht his says (he's in new york, so i havnt seen it for a while)

I agree - 435 Horse motor would have been a Tri-Power Intake (not that the intake hasn't been changed) - but why change a cool Tri-Power for a Edlebrock single 4bbl

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...

ALOT of people who drive/ drove those cars alot got rid of the 3x2 setup... there hard to tune, and just a PITA for a car you want to drive and enjoy. we had a few customers swap there original carbs for a single 4bbl...

not to say thats what happened here, but that is one reason one might take it off.

either way, i'm sticking to its a NOM car, its just wierd, the engine spec plate, the hood is wrong, ect. not that it matters i just like picking corvettes apart becasue i dealt with the most anal, stuck up people ever when i worked for corvettes LTD, so its my way of getting back

Even though it's in Jersey, one could buy that property and pay it off via eBay. Some nice stuff in there...

Wow, wanna bet one or two is stolen?

Are these on a salvage yard, or just some nearby piece of property that someone just plopped a trailer on and planned to "fix them someday"?

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...

It's a combination of the guy's personal collection and what's left of the junkyard. It closed some 15 years ago. You can see the pair of 64 Impala convertibles from the street(my reason for stopping). He said that his dad won't sell any of the cars but he may get off the old sedan body(I think it's a late 20's Dodge). Can you say "Rat Rod"!!!!

Hey, jkaylor, trade ya the sedan body for the KB in your avatar! Nice truck. I know where there's a pickup & a panel too!

No Rat Rod, build a realy nice nostalgia rod, rat rods are bad and unsafe, a black primered car is not a ratrod!

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...

That Chev II convertible has got to be somewhat rare and that Vette may be an original 427 tri-power car. It's a shame to let them sit there and rot away.

....and if I had to have a Ford hot rod, it would be a 65-66 Mustang fastback.

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...

That's sad knowing those car could end up with a new home that could bring them back alive. I've got a father-inlaw who has a 57 chevy setting out in a field in his back yard. He's had a lot of people to stop and buy it for good money. He says nope I'm going to fix it up one day. Knowing there's never going to be a way he's ever going to afford it. It's a great car gone to waste. It's really sad....................

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...

I just sold a 1969 L-88 427 to a man in San Diego for 5000. Needed sleeves in all cylinders and the heads had been hogged out and polished on the outside. I paid 1200 for a 1967 YENKO 427 block, that L88,a 1962 Vette 327,and a pontiac LeMans 1968. The kid had no idea odf what he had. The point being is just the engine in that vette is worth oodles.
