MORE QUESTIONS + Airtank mounting locations
I would like to mount my airtank(s) out of sight, but have a blazer gas tank.. which leaves thinking about the only other place to mount them in on the frame rails in front or behind the rear wheels... i'm looking into doing (2) 3 gallon tanks, just because of their small size, although the 5 gallon tank doesnt seem much bigger, typically 1" taller and 3-4" longer.. my question is do any of you have pics of measurments of the clearance between a fleetside bedside and the outter frame rail, either infront or behind the rear wheels? i dont have a fleetside bed to use for measurements, and my truck will be leaving to be painted in a couple weeks, i'd like to get this stuff ordered by the time it comes back.. thanks

Well, I got the 2 gallon tanks from airlift on mine... there is plenty of clearance between the bedside and these, lengthwise you cant go too much longer. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=230216

i think you'll be fine if you put 5 gallon tanks on each side behind the wheels.....mine are going there and you can mount your valves off of your tanks instead of directly on them. it'll save ya more room, everyone of my buddies has them set-up like that......look around the site you'll see some peoples set-ups

another couple questions!!! would i be ok to run just 2 valves up front and T the bags together, i'll be running slam re7's, which i've heard are pretty stiff bag compared to others.. second question, i already have a sway bar up front, will i need to make any changes to get the truck as low as possible, i think i remember hearing the sway-bar can limit the drop @ full dump

I would run the front bags independent of each other, regardless of wether you run a sway bar or not.
Even w/the Slams 'stiffer' sidewall, you can't beat physics..... air will be pushed from the compressed side to the extended side if there's nothing preventing the transfer.

I have (2) 3-gallon tanks from Suicide Doors mounted on the frame rails just behind the cab. They are out of sight, and tucked up and out of the way. Here's couple pics for reference:
Compressors are mounted under the cab on driver side. I like them there as I wanted to be able to hear them running in case something odd was to happen. I now have two Viair 380c's running right next to each other. Key is to put some rubber strips under the rubber feet to add some additional vibration damping so they don't sound so loud.

I was mocking up my compressor location recently and noticed that the bolts supplied with the Viair compressor seem really tiny. It looks like you used the supplied hardware, does the comp. seem stable mounted that way? I want to install mine on the frame like yours.

Hey 67Fleet ... how long does it take the two 380c's to pump up both 3 gallon tanks from dead empty? Also, how many times can you cycle (down & up) the system before the compressors kick on?

It's been a while since my truck's been driveable so I'm trying to recall here..... I think it takes about 4 minutes to get the psi to about 120 or so from 0 psi. That will lift front and back. I can't even remember now what my pressure switch was set at. Damn it's been a while.

The reason I asked is I am debating between one large tank (5 - 6 gallon) versus 2 small tanks (2 - 3 gallon) and plan on running a pair of the 380 or larger compressors and wanted to get some input.

Yeah, they're just "ok". I am going to re-do those and use nylok nuts on them as the standard nuts that are supplied like to wiggle themselves loose after a while. All the vibration that those things are subjected to makes them want to do a dance down the road.
