Can someone post some pics of their tailgate band on there fleetside tailgate with some measurememts please. I need to put mine on a tailgate I bought but do not know where to mount it. Thanks in advance.

Here's a pic of mine and one from the assembly manual.
From top of tailgate band to edge of recessed area of tailgate: 20 millimeters/.79 inch.
From bottom of tailgate band to bottom edge of tailgate: 40 millimeters/1.57 inch.

Looking closely it seems like the tailgate band on mine maybe sits a little too low.
My tailgate did not originally have the tailgate band, it is actually a GMC stamped tailgate and the PO who put the tailgate band on centered it over the stamped area and maybe that is not the correct location.
I hope someone else with an originally mounted tailgate band could measure the correct location.

This is an old shot.They broke up a couple years ago.I hear the guitar player started a new band called the grille surrounds.Pretty much a front band for big name shows.

50th,yours is correct.They would all need to cover the stamping and my truck is the same.The picture of the other truck above (Dion`s) looks the same,too.

OK, did all tailgates came with stampings?
I thought the ones with a tailgate band came w/o stamping.

68 50th,
I had a 70 Chevy CST with a tailgate band and one time I took the band off and it was a GMC tailgate, but anyway it was in the same location as yours.

If you want to come over I have an old one you can have as a template or of course you can follow the dimensions posted in the previous post. they match up

All tailgates with bands have the stamped letters underneath, The General didn't make any smooth tailgates.
