GMC Model vs. Series vs. VIN

I need some help clarifying the difference between a series number, a model number and the VIN number for GMCs. I have never seen the Service Parts Identification Sticker inside the Glove Box so I imagine mine was removed ages ago. I have a note on the owner’s manual stating that the model number is CE 1590 D but I don’t know where that came from. The fender emblem says 1500 but the VIN number shows CE 10 DZB. I have always called it a CE-1500 model but I think that refers to the Truck Series. Am I on the right track here?

What I really need to know, is the CE 1590 D really the actual model number?

Re: GMC Model vs. Series vs. VIN

I'm not too much of an expert on GMCs, outside of owning one, but here goes:
CE10D_ZB22957
C = 2wd, E = V8, 1 = 1/2 ton, D = 67-69 fleetside ("wideside" in GMC-speak), _ = space for extra letter on PA trucks(?), Z = Fremont Calif. plant, B = '68, 22957 is serial sequence.
The P.O.'s model number note would be correct.
CE1590D
C = Conventional (2WD), E = eight cylinders V8, 1 = half ton(1500),
59 = wheelbase code: 127", 0D = "wideside" bed.

Re: GMC Model vs. Series vs. VIN

mine is the same except for mine being a "s" in place of the "e" and a "d" for the "z".
CS10DPB61410 yet on the firewall in grease pencil it says CS1590. I think it was instruction in code for the line workers at the factory. "I get a six cylinder, a long fleet box and a special coating of rust promoter for the inside of the bed sides along with pre-softened crumple zones on the right front and left rear.

Boy, it doesn't take long for a thread to become burried here. Thanks for the info.
