Has everyone reinstalled the support rods that support the fenders? Are they that necessary? I am installing fiberglass fenders they look to be pretty sturdy & both don't weigh 45 lbs together. The original ones were at least 45 lbs a piece & had 3 support rods one in the center and towards the ends.

Only reason I can think of that you may need them is to keep them from vibrating (don't know if that's bad for fiberglass or not).

stick your hand out the window when you're going 70mph thats the type of forse thats going to be trying to rip the fenders off when you're going down the road// on the other hand fiberglass is easy to repair

where did you find fibergalss fenders just for future reference

The braces where put there for a reason. and steel is a lot stronger than fiberglass.

There is a place in Penhold, Alberta, Canada that sells the fiberglass fender for $295 canadian a piece

Avoid splits,run the braces.Why wouldn`t you want to?

Found some on e-bay 500 shipped. Reason why I asked is that on the stock fenders there are raised brackets on the mounting edge of the fenders. These do not have that raised portion. I did remove the brackets & rods from the stock fenders just will require some additional drilling/bolts to mount them on the fiberglass ones.

I wonder if you could laminate a mount into the back side where it is not noticeable.It is a shame to have to bolt through.

The flange on the inner side of the fenders are as thick as the stock ones. I might be able to mount some small bolts & nuts. Looking at the brackets maybe 1/4 or 3/8 bolts. Will tackle this later in the week & let everyone know what I decided. Other than not having those preinstalled on the inside of the fenders, thickness & quality are that of stock. Not sure how I could laminate those brackets having them look right & be secure without bolting or screwing them.

I was thinking laminating a mount into the backside.Just a thought.
