Shocks

Seems like every time I get the old truck where I think I am done it is something else. Gotta love it.
I need opinions on shocks, right now I feel like I am riding in a tank. I am trying to get the truck in good shape to be my daily truck, so alot of riding. Any opinions?

I like Monroe Reflex myself. Nice balacne- not too truck, not too passenger car.

Is your truck lowered? If it is the current shocks could be bottoming out. If so you may need a drop shock. I have monroes on mine now, but it's hard to tell how much they help with 1.5 coils out of the front springs.

Don't bother with NAPA shocks. I had there cheap ones on my old 1/2 ton, and they wore out in a year, and there high dollar ones (I paid 80 bucks for 2 with a hefty discount) and they ride rock hard.

I would go with the reflex. I work for monroe and the reflex is a good product. If the reflex is too high for your tastes. Go with the gas-magnums. Also monroe has promotions all the time so keep a eye out for that.

I've used Autozone shocks before on a 94 Chevy half ton 2wd. The red ones are crap. The white ones ride like they don't compress at all (very hard). I'm going to try the black mid-grade ones on my 72 as the bushings on my rear shocks are gone and they clunk when I hit a bump. Autozone also sells Bilstein which are used on many performance cars and Chevy's Z-71 trucks.

Autozone shocks suck. I've never heard of anyone having any that last very long.

I've been looking for Bilsteins for my '71 for some time. I've got dropped spindles on the front and 6" dropped coils with the lower shock mounts flipped and swapped sides w/ a plate between the mount and the trailing arm so I didn't mess with the rolled lip. But they never offered a shock for the rear. A couple weeks ago I went to the Good Guys show at Del Mar and this company was there and they now offer both front and rear. For both coil and leaf rear ends. I don't know the regular price because they are a wholesaler. They are local and Steve Duck who I spoke to at the show gave me an event price of $65 per. for the monroe fans, what about the sensa-trac?

The sensa-trac is a older model shock that does basically the same thing as the Reflex model. The reflex uses "modern technology" to give the same benefits. Both are good shocks.

My 93 came with bilsteins installed, and i'm completely sold. My buddy was blown away because it rides nicer than his, and his is 2 wheel drive.
