Brake Bleeding. (Front Drum)
Well, My brakes have been horrible for a while now, and this weekend I took it upon myself to bleed them along with the help of my dad.
The back ones were fine and easy, and they began to spit out a little fluid and no air bubbles after a while. The front ones are where the trouble comes. We couldn't find a tool at any of the 3 auto stores we looked that would fit in there. How are you supposed to do it? We tried to bend a regular wrench and modify it a little to make it work, but it didn't work. We also tried the "Brake bleeding wrench" that we bought but it didn't work. What are the keys to making it come lose? Also, when you are bleeding, here is how we were doing it. Push down Pedal Loosen Bleed Valve Tight Bleed Valve Let Pedal up Repeat, So is that right? And when do you know your done? Is it supposed to be really pushing out or just a steady oozing? Thanks in Advance Any Help would be appreciated. |

Re: Brake Bleeding. (Front Drum)
Try a deepwell socket on it. Does it have a por. valve on it?

Re: Brake Bleeding. (Front Drum)
It has the valve, but we couldn't get the socket to fit because there is a big bar that has something to do with steering right by it.

Re: Brake Bleeding. (Front Drum)
Hmm. I used a 1/4" drive deep socket on all mine. Of course mine are all replacements and use a metric head bleeder valve. What size socket drive you trying on it?

Re: Brake Bleeding. (Front Drum)
I'll try the deep socket, but I dunno if it'll work, as the circle end of the wrench wouldn't fit on it.
Any one else got tips? |

Re: Brake Bleeding. (Front Drum)
I needed a 1/4 socket and a short extention bar to clear the suspension on my 68 this afternoon.
