Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

Finally did some stuff on the truck. Did some patching/welding on the bed where I added my fuel filler.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=221437&page=2
Ran out of welding gas, so I worked on the template to cover the filler neck in the bed. Helped a friend work on the GPS in his Caddy. Worked on my compressor and fixed a pulley problem on the motor (I hope). Hung out with a board member EdB this afternoon.

Oh yeah, watched it rain and blow alot both days.

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

I got the passenger cab corner on,inner and outter rockers. I did the driverside last week end. I'll get a skim coat of filler on them this week and sanded down. Chassis comes home next saturday.

Then the real fun starts!!! Start cleaning it and preping for paint.

That's it for this week end. Oh yeah almost forgot,,,, cleaned up the mess from the cab corners/rockers project in the garage. Swear there had to have been 50 pounds of dirt in there. I did find a huge wasps nest in the passenger side rocker.

It was probably holding it together.

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

pulled the rubber mat, insulation, and seat belts out of the 71's floor to see just how bad the rust is that i hope i will be getting some work done on this week. cab corners rockers and floor patches looks like. also topped of the brake fluid that was almost dry.
oh and does anyone know what the bracket on the passenger side in the corner of the cab is for? it is on the back side of the door jamb about as high up as the seat back. is it for a jack or what

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

New exhaust on the DD plus fixed the header leak with aluminum header gaskets up top and used an extra set of flanges of the lower part of the header to use as a gasket between header and exhaust.
For your info it works great

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

I got the windows tinted in the truck last week, and Saturday I put the ECE sway bar lowering brackets on. I then installed the sway bar with new Energy suspension bushings and brackets. I also put some drywall up in my kitchen, still have to spackle it. Sunday I didn't do anything but cruise around here on the computer....

Spent almost all weekend getting some work done to the garage. At least I got to be IN the garage. The truck sat outside & pouted the whole time too...

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

Well, nothing today. But YESTERDAY...

I'm driving through town and my starter begins to run by itself! And a starter going 40 MPH doesn't last long, and the whole motor died. So I had to push the truck into a sporting goods parking lot. Then it started to rain. I found out later that wires coming from my ignition lock cylinder were bare and they decided to touch each other.

Changing a starter... in a crowded parking lot... during a full out rain storm... priceless.

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

Bled the rear brakes i just rebuilt on friday night. Also installed my green led's i bought from 70c10. Hey 1BadSS did you go to that swap meet in woodlandville, KS this weekend? Weather was crappy till 9:00 but after that there were a lot of good deals. Got a set of good used tires for my blue 72, a battery box, some of those inner fender clips, a glass pack, and a mallory tach and some other misc exhaust stuff to replace whats left of the one on the truck now. Sunday i figured out my ignition problem. After i converted the truck to HEI, it never has reved up properly. Turns out the spring loaded weights on the advance were frozen stiff and stuff was all out of wack. Oiled the advance setup, and replaced the springs/weights. After i reset the timing, she rev's with the best of them and purrs like a kitten.

724x4 I had to do the exact same thing to my HEI this weekend. The pins for the weights were rusted and the weights were stuck. I bought the MR Gasket weight and spring kit. Then I did a beautiful power slide with my new found power.

9.00 spring and weight kit = Double the horse power!

You got a pic of it? I probably stopped and looked at it. Was it in the car corral? Is yours a blue stepside with a big block in it?

Were you able to get the center bar off? I dont know what the deal was, but i couldnt get that center bar off the pins for anything. I just replaced the weights/bushings and used the silver springs from that same mr. gasket setup. I thought the blacks were too weak and the golds were too strong. Which ones idd you use?
