How a tailgate should be shipped.
If anyone is wondering how to ship a tailgate, this is it. I bought a NOS tailgate from jc the end of last week, it arrived today. From the inside out, the tailgate was covered in foam, heavy cardboard doubled at corners, wrapped in a blanket, another couple of layers of cardboard, all bound together with a roll or two of packing tape, and finally in a close fitting wooden crate that must have 200 screws holding it together. The delivery guy was hating it. I weighed the crate and packing and it was 103 lbs without the tailgate, no wonder I couldn't budge it on the front porch. The crate had a small hole punched in it from what looked like a forklift but thanks to all the packing, the gate was undamaged. I paid a small fortune, but I am happy. I can't recommend jc enough, I wish all internet transactions went this well. Thanks

Re: How a tailgate should be shipped.
if I were to ever order another one of them jimdandy new reproduction tailgates I'm gonna tell e'm to just write my address on the back of it and not put it in any box and to not use ups or fedex they should send it thru some unknown shipping company that have old worn out potato chip truck's for their company truck's and to be sure and place as many heavy items as they can on top of it , then they should send it half way across the country the wrong way get it lost for a week or two then find it again , if they had some sort of chain they could just hook on to it and drag it behind the truck and when they back up it would slide underneath the truck to be run over ,,,,,,,,,after this it may fit better it sure would not hurt the P.O.S. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Probably take you longer to unpack it than it will to install it.

You gotta love people that actually care about making sure people they sell to are satisfied. Id like to buy a whole truck from him and have him ship it, I could use the crate for a storage unit

Re: How a tailgate should be shipped.
It seems the handlers are more careless when they see better packing like that.I mean,a hole punched from a forklift?Maybe it`s because it was so heavy.Don`t get me wrong.JC is great and definately is a consciencious packer. But,I ship and have tailgates shipped Greyhound with never a problem. They wouldn`t accept something that heavy.
