look what I found hiding behind the shed!
1968 short step side 4x4. Origional but uncared for. I ask the owner if he would sell. Said he intended to restore it when he was in high school, then wanted to fix it up for his daughter. Neither happened, so sure , make an offer! I offered $800. He said no, but come back later and give me your best offer. Whats it worth???

Re: look what I found hiding behind the shed!
For the NW...that was a fair offer. If it is really, really nice (no rust) and not running...$1200-$1500. What was his counter offer?
Rant...I hate it when people say..."Make me an offer!" That means they have an anticipation that it is worth lots of money and are not interested in selling unless you offer them an unreasonable amount. All you can do is insult them, which I usually happy to do with an offer that makes it interesting for me...like $200! If they get indignant and say that is robbery, I just tell them that I have purchased trucks for $50 and have gotten some for free! You asked for an offer and I gave you one! Now tell me what you really want! "Make me an offer" is a "no win" proposition in my opinion! BTW...OUTSTANDING FIND!!!!!!!!!

Now I agree with this 100%. The ones that really kill me is the one not for sale cause I am going to restore it some day....then 3 years later you find it in the junk yard. I like the make me an offer...you make the offer and they get upset. One woman had a 70 Malibu. Been sitting in the same spot since 73. Sank into the ground. Critters had destroyed the car. She said make me an offer. I said 100.00. She said no...its a new car! I will take 4500.00 for it. This was in 91. the car still sits right there hasnt moved. Well its has...further into the ground. you cant open the doors on it now.

Re: look what I found hiding behind the shed!
That's just the wrong thing to do. If you only want it to turn around and sell then why even bother. Your going to lowball the guy and then turn around and ask what it's really worth. I had a guy do that with a Cutlass I had, he just had to have the car to drive on the street because his other Cutlass was a race car. He had the car 3 days and sold it. The is not right. Just my opinion.

Re: look what I found hiding behind the shed!
Buy it, fix it, drive it !!!!! Don't try to flip it for $$$.
Too hard to find another as good as that one. Pretty clean starting point, looks to me like. |

Re: look what I found hiding behind the shed!
yeah, get it and DON'T sell it. Like said above, it's a rare truck, plus it looks to be in good shape. I've seen worse up here running for $3000+. Even if you can't work on it right away, get it and park it out back and save it for another project.

I don't know what I would offer for it though. Try $1500 maybe?

Re: look what I found hiding behind the shed!
Heres a picture of the other side. I saw rust in rhe drivers side cab corner. The inside looks typical for an unused pickup. odometer shows 25,743 I have a 1967 ford pickup thats a driver. maybe i'll offer it.

Re: look what I found hiding behind the shed!
I agree with Bishops Trucks in not flipping it. If you really don't want the truck then put someone in touch with the guy that does. It is a really neat truck that I would love to have but can't even consider unless I sold my money pit first and moved a lot closer.

Re: look what I found hiding behind the shed!
Better yet, purchase low and pass on savings to a board member who could do it justice.

Re: look what I found hiding behind the shed!
1500 sounds about right
get it and keep it and fix it up, if not then buy it and sell it to a board memeber for what you got it for that wants to fix it up and keep it going

Re: look what I found hiding behind the shed!
guess buying and flipping for $$$ is better than letting it sit and rot down.
