Making the bed. 66 C-10

Well its taking a bit longer then I though making the bed look right. But I rather be working with this real steel than that other s***. Seem like I been hammering and sanding on one side of my bed for 2 weeks, but the good news is I think its almost ready, That was the most damage on the truck. I posted these before and after pics. what yall think[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]

Hay guy, that looks real good. What did you use to fill the "rust holes" with? and is it going to stand up to the salt air down there in the gulf?
I'm up in north Tex. on lake texoma, and have a good bit of rust on my 66 step side, but nothing as bad as yours was. We have a lot of humidity, but no salt here.

Re: Making the bed. 66 C-10

Well first i use to work as a panter some years back and this co. i worked for we panted frat tanks for the oilfield. The body filler and top coat is not for sale to the general public, its a liteweight filler, and polyester glazing putty and red spot topping putty. But bondo sales the same thing just not industral strenth. It should hold damm good evilweevil, I hand sanded all the rust spots down to good metal before i did anything. Lake Texoma, you do any fishing up there?

Re: Making the bed. 66 C-10

GC66,
I don't fish up here, the lake is contaminated with "Stripers" (good game fish but ain't worth Sh#### for eating). I fish at Lake-o-the pines in Jefferson!!
I hope I can get my old step side as slick as you did yours!!! My rust is only through in the rockers, and back cab corners. I replaced the rockers(thats a snap) but am studieing the corners real hard, I'm not a real neat welder. I'll get there some day, if the "honeydews' will leave me alone!!!!!!!!

Wow the body work looks great on the bed. I know it had to take some time. Guess that is why body shops charge so much for their time.
