What routes through the valve cover clips?
Does anyone know what wiring was originally routed through the clips that were on factory valve covers? I have a 71' Cheyenne 350 and noticed these 2 clips on the top of them that are metal and part of the valve cover, but can't figure out what their purpose is?
I know it's not the plugs wires and on the driver side thought it might be the temperature sending unit wiring. I can't seem to find out anything in my scematics, but I know some of you have better ones. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! |

Re: What routes through the valve cover clips?
IIRC mine had some senser wires that ran along the valve cover.

Re: What routes through the valve cover clips?
Intakes that had temperature sensor's installed the wires were routed using these clips and with the older Vettes when aluminum valve covers were used clips were installed to run temperature sensor wires a long the valve covers. I just looked @ a 71' factory intake and there is no provision for a temperature sensor. I looked at a set of 71' valve covers & the clips are visable. Did different years use different intakes but used all the same valve covers .... beats me.
Sorry I can't be of more help .... esll.

Re: What routes through the valve cover clips?
Its for the tempertaure sending unit wire, the sender should be between the #1 and #3 plugs. It also routed the wire for the fast idle solenoide that was on some trucks too.

Re: What routes through the valve cover clips?
i didn't think the clips came along until later unless your talking about clips that bolt on with the valve cover bolts

Re: What routes through the valve cover clips?
On my '70 with 350, the temp sensor wire runs down the driver's side valve cover, and I believe the vacuum line for the distributor runs down the passenger side.
EDIT: Through the clips that are spot-welded to the valve covers, that is.

Re: What routes through the valve cover clips?
the 2 little clips on the valve cover is for the temp senser wire to run through to the senser thats on the side inbetween the #1 and #3 plugs
just like Aarons72s said
