Re: PICS from the "Land of the Lost" (as promised)

I thought at first it was a bonneville - it has the split grille typical of pontiacs, i thought i saw the ass end of a skylark above...and i thought that last pic was a GTO or Bonneville, but not sure. my final thought was a '71-'72 GTO. curious myself what it is though.

Re: PICS from the "Land of the Lost" (as promised)

I was scrambling to get as many truck parts together as I could and didn't climb over any farther to see what it was myself - looking back at the pics I was thinking I should have at least grabbed the nose off of it! I'll be going back in a week or two to get some more stuff.

the standard Tempest and LeMans had chrome grilles, the GTO retained the urethane cover around the headlamps and grille.

Swap the nose, and put in the proper motor, and yes it could be a GTO, Hell go one step further and make it a Judge clone

Re: PICS from the "Land of the Lost" (as promised)

He's been real tight with stuff until recently I guess - I've been to see him 3 times now and I've talked with him about selling entire vehicles to people - I mentioned I know quite a few people (everyone here) and that I might be able to help him get some stuff moved... He's pretty sharp too, I had a bunch of 67 parts and a grille mixed in with the last load I picked up and he said... "Hmmm, not much call for 67 truck stuff...." kinda like a statement as opposed to a question. I have been fair with what I've paid and he's doing good by me so I don't want to mess the place up for myself. Give me another time or two to see him and I will see if I can start sliding some of you his way... I also need time to convince the wife that two of the old pontiacs and one of the Galaxie 500s can fit behind my shop and be hidden....

Can anyone approximate years of the two pre67 trucks?

I also have a shifter knob out of the truck with the camper - it's bright red... it appears it was painted.. it was on the stick to the standard tranny that was in it (3/4 ton truck) - should I chance cleaning the paint off to see if it's one of those "expensive" ones or leave it alone?

What "expensive" ones are you talking about? Would it happen to be the marbled older style? Just curious. What have ya got to lose.

Re: PICS from the "Land of the Lost" (as promised)

The knob was in the GMC with the camper (4th posting above) - It's bright red with a little wornoff on the side (it's black underneath) - It's hard to tell but it looks like there might be a shift pattern diagram under the paint... can't be certain it's not just dents in the top or not. I was thinking about hitting it with some solvent to see what was underneath. If it is an original with pattern on it, I wouldn't think the solvent would hurt it but thought I'd ask first..

I doubt something like mineral spirits would hurt it.

But I'm not sure.

I don't know where Jacksonville is so I'd have to say you are at least 150 or so miles away (That's about the extent of my knowledge of the area).
