Dana44 vs. Corp 10 front axles..
OK, After undergoing this swap I have found a few differences between these axles.... I am comparing a 1976 Dana44 with closed knuckles and a 1982 Corporate 10 - both 6 lug 1/2 ton.
The obvious (1/2 ton models) 1. Dana44 30 spline - Corp10 28 spline inner axles (so i've read) 2. both have 32" spring widths (centers) 3. differental on corp10 is moved approx 1" towards the center of the truck, thus the driver axle is shorter and the pass axle is longer than dana44 4. 68 Dana44 is 2.75" tube and 82 Corp 10 is 3" tube (like 12 bolt) 5. Brake calipers are similar except that the corp10 uses a metric banjo bolt, and rubber line is different. 6. Spindles transfer between them but I noticed that the Corp 10 spindle's shaft is larger. Now my dilemma is that I need to find spring plates to work with the u-bolts.. EDIT:The Dana44 plates might work if I bend the u-bolts 1/8" on each side during installation. WTB thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=240454 Feel free to post more info that you have found... I also now have four u-bolts for a dana44 and need to find the larger spring plates and pay $30 more for u-bolts! Dana Spicer D44 View Parts List 10 bolt cover with 8.5" ring gear. Found in both front and rear applications. Rear applications use a bolt in axle. Axles are 30 spline. Front applications came in both standard and reverse rotation. Re: Dana44 vs. Corp 10 front axles..
The later model 10 bolts (front and rear) switched to 30 spline shafts in '88 IIRC. That's about all I can add.

Re: Dana44 vs. Corp 10 front axles..
I did find that the hole in the knuckle (where axle slides in) is slightly smaller. I tried to put a dana44 axle into the corp 10 and found most of this out...oops
