Special deal on *new* Aux battery trays for this forum

Hey all,

I'm a little miffed about this because I just paid $75 for a aux battery tray in "Fair" condition week or so ago and I coulda got a new one for $67 + $20 shipping!

Someone here informed me that Scott's Super Trucks had repop auxillary battery trays for our trucks, and they look exactly like stock.

With that said, I contacted him via email and asked for pictures. Not only did he send pictures back, but he also told me that anyone from this forum looking for them could mention they heard about them on the 67-72ChevyTrucks forum and get $15 off.

NOTE: I have a stock auxillary battery tray and I can confirm the pics below are exactly the same damned thing! The only difference I see between this one and my stock unit is the lack of a middle bolt hole where it bolts to the core support (which is impossible to use anyway on the stock unit without grinding stuff)

Price: $67 if you mention this forum
Extras: $5 if you need the hold-down and bolt
Shipping: From CAN to USA: $20
Pics: Below

Here is the content of his email along with contact numbers:

Quote:
Heres some pictures (finally) of the auxiliary(dual) battery tray assembly.

They don't come with the battery hold down and bolt but we can include it
for $5.00 extra. They are powdercoated black and ready to install.

They would cost about $20.00 to mail to the USA.

Our retail price on them is $90.00ea, but we would discount the price to $75.00 Canadian (thats about $67.00 U.S.) to any one that heard about them on the 67-72chevytrucks site.

If you would like to order one please call 1-800-GMC-CHEV in Canada and 1-403-886-5572 from the USA.

Thanks
Scott
SSTrucks
Hope this helps someone - I'm going to order one myself!!

I already ordered one, but appreciate the gesture just the same

I'm just happy to have found one, and pissed that I paid more for a used one in "OK" shape!!

staying with one battery in the auxillary location. i have the stock auxillary tray installed as we speak - here's the catch:

67 and 68 did NOT come with provisions for an aux battery tray on their core support (67-68 use a diff't core support than 69-72), so if you have a 67 or 68 pickup, you'll need to:

a) mount the voltage regulator to the three holes provisioned on the side of the aux tray (triangle shaped - on the long side of the aux battery tray)

b) delete or move your horn

c) drill three additional holes in your core support and tap them to the proper threads (this is like ... 7/16-18 or 3/8-16, i forget off the top of my head) in order to bolt it up - basically, the bottom hole next to radiator lines up, but none of the others do - and you'll need a half-inch spacer for the top hole above headlight

i'm pretty sure that's everything. it's unfortunate that it's not a direct bolt-in for 67-68 trucks, but if you're doing a GenIII / LSx or LQx swap into your truck like I am (and you are), it makes the wiring and routing of things hellaciously easier - especially if you're running an LQx motor like the one you bought - - - because you can use the stock truck intake and stock water pump AND stock upper radiator hose if you relocate your battery to the passenger side

remember - using the newer GenIII or GenIV engines, you only require a one-wire alternator, which means you can delete the voltage regulator anyway.

Wow those are nice. Just like shifty I am a little put off that I spent $80 a few months back for one. Who'd have known? Oh well I will just enjoy what I already have. Mine came with a regulator!
