Anyone ever have this happen...
So I finally got my truck back after about 3 weeks. I had the disc brake conversion put on with new tie rods, ball joints, power steering, shocks, springs, 40 series dual exhaust and a beefy sway bar. I'm feeling good cruising down the 5 freeway at about 70 mph with my drivers side window vent open, I go to pull it in and it comes completely out of the rubber liner and flies out of my hand (along with the metal handle) and shatters on the freeway!!! Luckily there was no one behind me in the carpool lane, but my girl got a big laugh out of it. Has this happened to anyone else?

Mine is loose and can be pulled out easily, but it hasn't fallen to the ground...yet.

Re: Anyone ever have this happen...
never had that happen, i was in arkansas years ago when the truck in front of me hit a racoon at 80mph, which broke off his front spoiler. after he ran over the spoiler it shattered and a couple of big chunks came into my stang with me.i had the t-tops off at the time. scared the crap out of me.racoon and spoiler everywhwere.

Re: Anyone ever have this happen...
Never had that happen, but when I was driving my 56 Ford 3/4 pickup down a paved road which ended and turned into gravel the bump caused the hood to come unlatched raising up cracking the front windshield
I guess I was about 17 at the time, which was about 1963. Dang, now that I think about it I am getting up there in years. Danny - SEMO |

we were out boating on the Tennessee river when my boy says" dude mom's gone" I looked and she had fallen right out of the boat! Lesson learned know when to say when. P.S. we don't drink anymore thank God!

**********************************************************
Well Jamie it kinda went like this, When I got the beast to a stop she was sprawled out on the side of the road, shook up more then anything. Major pissed so I figured after dusting her off the right thing to do was to take her home (she was as pretty as one could imagine) goes with out saying the date was over permently. I lived in a small town called ladsmith at the time and she lived 20 miles north in Nanaimo where I live now. The windows in the old Ford seemed to be icing up and it was a hot summer evening, as we drove not a word was said until I got her home and she said f#%k o%f as loud as she could .... I went back to Ladysmith thinking about the canoe races that I planed for the evening up at the old water tower and how I blew it .... never owned a Ford since always Chev or GMC. esll.

funny thing last spring my brother-in-law, and sister wanted to take my dad's boat to the lake so i said, "ok, i'll get it out of the shed and get it running for you" i got it running the same day but the throttle was a a little sticky i told my bro-in-law about it and told him to take watch it and it should loosen up, well my brother-in-law, my cousin took the boat out on the lake that weekend, they were in the middle out the lake so my bro pushed the throttle up =nothing happened so he pushed it farther, then the 110 horse mercury came to life and stood the boat up, my cousin reached out and grabbed the oh-**** hanle on the dash and pulled it off on his way out of his chair i laughed so hard i about cried anyways are blazer windows the same as the pick-ups?

Re: Anyone ever have this happen...
I had the "dont open" wing window in mine for 3 years, then I left the latch undone when I was doing something to the door, forgot, and lost the window after hitting a big bump. just taped some tint across it, for about two weeks until I found one on ebay for cheap.
evertime somebody would ride with me, I had to tell them not to open it. |

Re: Anyone ever have this happen...
Yep, had the same thing happen on my 68. Was headed down a state highway one night with a buddy, as luck would have it, he just happened to have his hand right up by the passenger vent window when it worked loose. I can't remember what I used to "glue" it back into place, but it's still holding 7 years later.

Re: Anyone ever have this happen...
I had a 59 Ford Ranchero Back in the day. I was doing a U turn and my date rolled towards the pass. door and the door opened and she was gone. No seat belt laws and the stricker was not all that great. Needless to say the date was short lived and we never went out again!!!
I told her if she had been sitting closer to me none of this would have happened. She never saw the wisdom or humour in my response. esll.

Re: Anyone ever have this happen...
Years ago when I was in high school, I worked at a full service gas station (aging myself there). One day I was driving the old service truck, a 69 or 70 Chevy (cool!) with a 3 on the tree. Going from 2nd to 3rd, and the shifter came off in my hand. I got the truck back to work with it stuck in 3rd, and only about 1/2 the clutch smoked away.

Re: Anyone ever have this happen...
I have to say this is one of the funniest threads I've seen on here in a while..... not much to add but, speaking of things that fly off going down the road, when you get past about 85 on a motorcycle your feet and legs want to fly off to the side when you raise your foot to shift or brake ;-)
