Tire size on a stepside
I am looking to put 20's in the back of my truck but do not know how wide i can go without rubbing. Anyone can give me some ideas of size that can go in the back. I have a 72 chevy truck rearend which i think is shorter than a 1960 to 1966. Thanks everyone

Re: Tire size on a stepside
I have a 12 bolt 3.73 from a 72' in my 62', it is actually wider than the stock 60-66 axle, I am running 20 boyd coddington smoothie II's w/ 275X45X20 in the rear.

OK great what size are your rims and do they rub at anytime? I must say I love the way your truck looks. You did a great job and thanks for the info.

Re: Tire size on a stepside
Boyd Coddington Smoothie II Wheel 20x8.5 both front and back, no rubbing issues, truck has a static drop of 3.5 front /5 rear - thanks for the compliment, far from being finished, replacing the step with a fleet bed, great looking 63' keeping posting pics as you go, look forward to the finished product.

Re: Tire size on a stepside
have always liked them more than a stepside but could never find a SWB fleet for sale around New Mexico, I wanted a 62' (year I was Born) but couldn't find one, found this step, in Roswell 2yrs ago, and just this year found a clean SWB Fleet bed to go on it, I want to do a two tone, I have collected all the OEM Cutom badges, trim, aluminum grille, front and rear bumpers etc. My wife prefers the stepside, maybe when I get the fleet done she won't keep wanting to take it out and drive it all the time.
