Engine Progress :D :D
Wooohoooo Finaly had time today to finish up the install of my "lil" engine. I know a few of you were curious what the "noisy" gears were going to sound like... LOL Man those thing are obnoxious!!! I LOVE IT! lol. This is the setup I've wanted since I started working with cars 20 years ago. It's got the sound I was hoping for (280h Cam) and the noisy gears just set the whole thing off.
I remember a while back asking if these gears would even be noticable with flowmaster 40's... YES, YES you hear the gears at any speed. I'm going to love this Now if I can just keep my foot out of it till I go through break-in. I didnt even hook up the Nitrous yet. I'd be too tempted LOL |

A buddy of mine has gear drive in his pro-street '67 step. Sounds pretty cool. Nothing like firing up a new engine

If it is a daily driver, you'll be begging for a chain in there.

With this engine, I've installed Timing gear set instead of a Timing chain. There are different levels of noise associated with these gears... anything from quiet to Very Noisy, ANd they are... Very noisy lol. Its a constant "whine" from the engine as if there is a blower on top. You wouldnt want to take a 500 mile trip in this truck. The noise would defen you.

i got the edelbrock gear setup and wouldnt trade it for the world.it has a nice whine at idle and u can hear it until about 2 grand or so but then it is drowned completely by the motor i guess that has somethin to do with the 40 series flowmasters

Hey Zkast, come down and meet us all in Ark City on the 28th, that would be a good break-in run for the new motor! Straight down I-35 man, what could be easier?
