Pads too tight to slip on rotor question
I have new stock 11 inch rotors new stock 82 calipers and some new orgainc pads The calipers sat for a few years but look good could it be that the piston is sticking out a little? tryed to move it but it looks like its all the way in ..even tryed it with the old thin pads and it wont fit.. pretty lame I know ..but just thought some one could see thru my stupidity and be so kind as to give me any Idia what the F is going on !

Re: Pads too tight to slip on rotor question
In the 80's a truck could be had with I think was called a heavy duty brake option or a regular or light duty option. The heavy duty is the same as the older years but the light duty had narrower drums in the back and thinner rotors up front, only an inch thick instead of the old 1 1/4. This makes the caliper different too. There is a way to tell by the brake hose mount because the brake hoses are different too but it escapes me what is what. one hose end looks like a rectangle and one is square but I cant remember which for sure. I think the square is light duty. hope this helps

Take a c clamp and make sure the piston is pushed in all the way.

Re: Pads too tight to slip on rotor question
The piston should sit flush when fully compressed. If it won't compress entirely it may be stuck and need replaced.
