Transmission Temp Gage - Advice Needed - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm thinking about installing a trans temp gage into my truck, it has an automatic transmission. Just beginning to research it. Anybody have any experience with these?

I drove a company truck,2005 Chevy 2500WT, with a service bed that had a factory trans temp guage.I think it was a part of the towing HD package.I towed very little with it and never anything very heavy.The main enemy of trannys is heat so if you don't have a good tranny cooler then I would suggest you invest there first.I think most tranny experts say over 250 is starting to get into the danger zone.Maybe some tranny Guru will post up on this.

I have the B&M trans temp gauge, it works good and was pretty simple to install. What exactly are you wanting to know?

I was hoping for a recommendation or advice. I didn't know if one was eaiser to install than another. So where did you tie it in at?

The "T's" in the pic are there for you to cut one of your hard lines and splice it in there. I had a drain plug on my pan that I screwed the sensor into. After that, it's just a matter of wiring power, the sensor and the gauge light in. I can't really comment on the other gauges as this one is the only one I have used. I hope this helps some.

When I bought my 700 from Bow-Tie Overdrive many years ago they recommended a cooler which I installed. The transmission came with a drain plug in the pan so I purchased the gauge and sender from them and it screws right into the drain plug. I never did put a light in or adequitely mount the gauge housing. But the trans works well and runs cool.

What brand did you get and where? Was it electronic or mechanical? I bought a DERALE pan and need to know what trans. temp. sender to get that is best for this application.
