Need Help With Cab Corner & Rocker Replacement - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I,AM going to replace 2 cab corners and 1 rocker pannel . i know alot of you guys have done this several times and was hoping you would share any tips with me on these jobs. the rocker isnt going to be bad but the cab corners has got me. i dont want to cut no more out than is needed. do i try to flange ( overlap ) or but them up and tig it or what ? any help would be greatly appreciated. pic,s. would be super..... lastly what brand replacment parts is the best to buy ?

Cab corners can be a pain, especially with the foreign made ones, all require work where they meet in the door jamb. The best ones were made over here by tabco body parts out of ohio, they are still in buisness but I am not sure if the corners are made over here any more but they fit real well. I would flange it fro a stronger weld. But if looks on the inside are more important than butt weld then. I see you are only replacing 1 rocker, well the cab corner is spot welded behind the rocker so you may have some work at putting them in with the rocker still on. As for rockers, I forgot who made mine, I would ask someone else. As the quality has gotten worse withsome of them so who ever has done them recently should be able to help on those. Hope this helps.

You mightaswell go with the Tabco rockers as well. Just got one and was real happy with it, much heavier metal.

What I found was that the cab corners are a one fit all sorta deal. I had to cut and fit until it was what I wanted. I assume the reason for this is because the manufacturer has no idea just how much rust each truck has. I found the rockers to be straight forward.
