I have seen several trucks running around with 15 x 12's and 14 - 15" M/T Sportsman's without narrowed rearends (just using a lot of backspacing)

I love the look, because you can throw on some stock wheels occasionally for a different look if you want to , something thats hard to do with a true, narrowed rearend.

i was just wondering what type of wheels could be used. A truck i saw , but was unable to pin the owner down, had Weld's or a good Weld knock off in 6 lug, that was done like that ------ but i looked in Summit and Jegs and could not find drag style wheels in 6 lug

in my particular application, i would probably have to mount the leaf springs in board on the frame to get the clearance, as mine is a leaf spring truck.

Anyway -- if anyone has done or is familiar with a similar operation, what size and type wheels can be used with a stock 6 lug rearend? (Oh if only i could have found the owner of that truck)

I love that look too

. I'm not 100% sure you can use a 12" rim without modification but I have seen trucks with 10" rims and no mods. I believe the wheel well to the outer lip of the bed is "around" 14". I plan to go BIG out back eventually!

I got 15x10's in my rear with 4.5 inch backspacing and they are 6 lug. I know you could special order from centerline a 6 lug wheel thats 15x12 with a 5-5.5 inch backspacing and they should'nt stick out from the body at all. mine don't and i have 295/50/15 tires on the back. They would cost quite a bit though. Just go down to one of your big tire dealers and they can get them for you.

i got 295/50/15 on my truck also

I've been looking into doing this on my stepside. What i had come up with was that if I cut into the bed and installed "mini tubs", I could put 31x16.5x15 M/T Sportsmans on 15x12 wheels w/ 7.5'' backspace before interfereing with the coils or trailing arms. The only thing I could find with that much BS was a 5 lug Weld Wheel (from Summit or Jegs). When adding in the cost of doing an axle conversion, it got put on hold.
Then I saw a link to www.stocktonwheel.com (from Special-K) in a different thread. I looked up their site and they will take your current steel wheels and widen them with what ever BS you need. I inquired about cost and it was under $160/wheel for 15x12, and no need for an axle swap.

I do need to say that the sizes I mentioned above, were figured out "quickly" with a tape measure. I will need to mock it up before I swear to what will fit.

I have a 67 shortbox ,I did the tubs,got the stock wheels widened to 15x12 with an 8 inch backspace. My tires are 375x60 x15 they tuck in really nice and I just lowered it 4 1/2 in front
and 6 in back for an evil stance.One last point I have the coil spring rear with trailing arms,it won't work with leaf springs, hope this helps Brian

If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
