How Low can I go...
I should know this already but mainly want to get your knowledge passed to me.
1980 GMC Stepside. I want to know how much I can safely cut the front coils and front bump stops before it starts riding like a goat wagon. I was given some shackles for the rear a while back (they are now installed) and just want to set the front down about the same amount. 2inches. Thanks in advance for any help... don't cut more than 2 coils off. I would try 1.5 coils first

This how my front sits with 2 cut coils, 1 cut coil is a 2" drop depending on the spring, correct me if i'm wrong but shouldn't the coils be cut as whole coils in order to sit in the spring pockets on the A-arms

Hm, cutting springs?
I have experience with this on a 91 Camaro... cut 1.5 coils to lower it and after a year or so the car sagged and bottomed out. The right way was to buy uncut springs that provide the desired lower ride height. Luckily Eibach made some...

Cut 1 coil off & see how much drop you get. It's easier to go back & trim a little more off (& you can't add back on if 1.5 coils are too much).
