71 suburban th400 to 700r4 swap
I have a 1971 suburban with a 402 big block and a th400 tranny.
Has anyone got any info on the difficulty of a th400 to a 700r4 tranny swap? |

Re: 71 suburban th400 to 700r4 swap
you just just need a lock up kit in your 700r4 for the converter and get a later one if you can out of an early 90s pickup/van. the 700r4 is the same length as a longtail th350, im not sure how youd get an extra spot on your shifter/shift indicater, but you could go with an aftermarket lokar floor shifter.

Re: 71 suburban th400 to 700r4 swap
700r4.com use to sell new shift indicators that had the correct pattern on them. befor eevery one was selling wiring kits for the lock up converter we use to just get a break switch from a newer truck with the extra wire conection and wire it to the trans so that the converter would unlock when you hit the brake. Funny thing is now if you do a search for how to do it you cant find it. 700r4 use to have a tech right up on there site when they were first starting out on how to do it this way but now they sell the kits.
