TH350 leak and NP205 leakier. HEELLPPP!!
Hey folks, I posted my new blazer earlier today (1969 K5 CST 4WD) and am now getting to post my real first call for help. The TH350 pan is leaking from every bolt and crevice and the transmission dipstick shows it's low. But I can't find a fill tube is this a fill from the bottom kinda deal. Also my engine is running hot but I think because the PO tossed the shroud and probably the t-stat is bad. That is however another thread , the reason I'm mentioning it is because. The transmission well is pretty warm if I just drive it around the block. Some of that may be the engine but I don't know. I'm trying to get it to stop leaking long enough for me to trouble shoot the motor. Since I am no mechanic should I just try to fill the tranny and change the pan seal and filter. Or is this something I should take to a Trans shop before something bad happens. Also the NP205 is leaking from every bolt but should I just keep putting fluid in it for now? till i get all of the other fires put out. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like your leak may just be because it sounds like you are missing the dipstick. You can buy these at any parts store for like $10-20 bucks. there will be a hole just opposite the front corner passenger side of the the tranny. if you are laying underneath it looking up reach over that corner and you should find the dipstick rod or a hole where it use to be.
hope that helps

I've got the dipstick I just wasn't sure if I poured fluid down that little hole if it would cause a problem as it is it is the only spot I can see to fill it.

That's where you fill it, the dipstick tube.

It's money well spent - so much good advice and information is available here and no one will ever say you asked a dumb question - truly a dumb question is one that isn't asked.

Re: TH350 leak and NP205 leakier. HEELLPPP!!
The tranny will and should be warm from even a short drive. You just need to keep it from getting too warm and that means over about 200F. The tranny cooler built into the radiator is done that way to help the fluid warm up when cold. This is more of a feature for northern climates, but they are all done the same. In fact, you don't need to use the radiator tranny cooler if you don't want to. I converted my truck from manual tyranny to auto and used an add on tranny cooler for several years, until I had some radiator work done, then they added the cooler tank to my existing radiator.
If your pan gasket leaks and you are not sure about the history of oil changes, etc. Take the truck to the local oil change shop or garage you use and have them replace the tranny oil filter. They have to pull the cover and will install a new pan gasket when they do it. The cost is usually not bad. Like $75 around here.
