problem with a board member
back on the 28th of august i agreed to purchase a "part" from a fellow board member. he was supposed to get me a shipping cost so i could send payment but so far all i have gotten is excuses. a few days ago i went to his original post and asked again for a shipping cost, that way it moved the post back to the top-- he deleted the entire post. most of his excuses are pretty lame--i forgot, i don't have a box big enough, etc. if he doesn't come through with something soon i'll post his user name so nobody else will have to deal with his lack of common courtesy.
when i agree to sell something i always send a shipping cost asap. i purchased the identical "part" from sakohntr the same day and it will be arriving in the next day or two, sakohntr (bruce) is obviously a man of his word. what would you all do in this situation, post his user name or forget about it ??????

i agree, post it (name) and save another board member from possibly going through the same thing. i have bought and sold thru fellow board members, and have always gotten the best of service from them, but there is always the exception.

I think we've had enough argueing and all on the board lately that it may be best to just drop it. I mean they are the one thats not getting their part sold. if they don't get right on it its thier loss. thats just my opinion...

arguing and being ripped off of your hard earned dollars is two different things. i believe in diplomacy at all times and i know that if these allegations are true BUT i sure as heck would'nt want to deal with this person. "Above all...INTEGRITY"
i will digress from this subject..............

no money has switched hands unless I miss read somethign, I'm jsut sayin if we can avoid this type of thing that'd prolly be best, but I understand that at somepoint somethign needs to be done, I'm not sayin this beating around the bush is rihgt, I'm simply sayin if we deal with someone and they start giving excuses just tell them to forget it then.

The problem isn't necessarily that money has changed hands or not, its that it take resources to try and make a deal. If we know who the game players are then those who are serious about fixing up trucks can be saved from a waste of our resources (time is a big one) Just MHO

If he said he had been busy or out of town on work then that would be cool but to say he does not have a box big enought to ship it then why did he put it up for sell I say post his name in the reveiw section thats what it is there for right? But just be thankfull you did not send him the cash I have been ripped off before and it really sucks when you wait for two or three weeks for a part that you need to help finish something and it does not show up. Thats just the way I feel so take it as you will later B.

I think it's very appropriate to post the name. I also think we should use the review board for that.

Post his name on the review board. Don't call him an a**hole or whatever. Just give the facts, so nobody else will deal with him.

Post his name.... I don't like it when people waste my time. If they aren't HONEST about the transaction then they shouldn't have posted the part for sale in the first place. Waste somebody elses time, but not mine. And other board members should be warned, just so they don't waste their time dealing with the individual too. The way I see it, you're just doing someone else a favor, and that's my 2 cents worth.

The way I see it, we've only heard this side of
the story. We shouldn't start judging until the other party explains his part of the story. If for some reason he doesn't have a box big enough, and doesn't have the time to get one, then let it be. Of course, if he's decided not to sell to you, then he needs to come forward and let you know to look elsewhere, and not waste your time anymore. Like some of you said, no money was exchanged, so move on. Typically if I'm buying/selling from someone, and I do not get a response from them after 3-4 times, then that means for me to drop the buy or sell and look for another potential buyer or seller. I'd forward these post to him, so that he can be aware of them, and he might have some explaining to do. Just my 2 cents. Trini C. |

Jerry, good luck. I have a hard time answering this one. I have been stiffed by board members and treated oustandingly by others. One member emailed me and offered to sell me a part that I had been looking for at $80.00. I was not home to check the mail for several days and before I could reply it was posted for $50.00. Sold also.
I think that with people being busy, a fair amount of time should be given for a reply. I know that sometimes e-mail does not work. Try them again. On the other hand, I have responded to posts asking questions and requesting pics and then decided against the item. Sometimes playing tag takes time and I appreciate each person that has taken the time to fairly represent the item. Since you have had contact with this person I say try to resolve it to a happy conclusion or to a mutual seperation. If excuses continue, smear em'. I expect the same.

I guess i'm missing something here,!!! If there was no money exchanged, Then there wasn't a deal consumated!! So what's the big deal????
Many of us have lives out and away from this board,I have two other hobbies besides my truck. and there are times I don't get to this board for many days. (i haven't touched my truck for more then a week now) I've been busy with my R/C and horses. I have e-mailed some of you directly with questions on parts and just questions in general, and never gotten a response. I didn't try to chastise anyone. I had someone here tell me they wanted a part that I had, And it took me FOREVER to get back with them on a shipping cost, When I e-mailed him the shipping cost, I never heard back from him! But I sure don't consider him a BAD PERSON, or someone that I wouldn't want any of you to deal with. If I would have sent him money and not heard from him then it would have been a different thing altogether.Or if he would have promised to buy something and I took it off of the boards and never seen the money, that again would have also been another thing. I'm sorry guys! I think this is blown out of proportion, And to boot this guy sent him the part with NO MONEY, what more can you expect from a person?? Now I would like to know who the member is because he's a VERY STANDUP GUY!!!!! He went further then I would have or I dare say MOST of YOU.. I e-mailed a guy with a price on a RADIO CONTROL plane I had for sale, I never heard back from him for over a week whether he wanted it or not, I sold it to the next guy in line. A couple of days later the first guy contacted me and wanted paypent instructions. How much time should I have given him? HE wasn't upset. If I sell something in person, it's first come first served. That's why I go the E-BAY route. I agree with BRYCE, NO money NO harm. RON |

i got the part finally and i also sent payment to him.
as for ron woodgeard's remarks, i have a life outside trucks too but if i make a commitment to sell a part i take care of my end of the deal as quickly as possible, it makes me feel good about myself if i don't leave someone hanging for a week or more waiting for me.

If your going to offer parts for sale then you have no excuses on why you cannot get a box, shipping charges, or the parts out etc. etc. In other words dont offer parts for sale if you cannot complete the transaction in a timely fashion.
