Hazard Light Switch Knob & Kick Panel Vents
I bought a replacement hazard switch knob from LMC, but it ain't like mine. The new one is black, round, and has a screw hole in the center. The one on my column--the end is broken off--is red, rectangular, and lacks a screw going through it (I haven't yet pulled the wheel to see how it's held in).
LMC only lists the one kind, and even my '67 Service manual implies that it ought to be screwed in a la LMC. Anybody know what's going on here? After coming up short there, I pulled the "custom' tin someone screwed/riveted to the passenger side kick panel to find out why it's there and whether the air vent was underneath it. The answer to the first question was obvious; the second remains unanswered: the oval where the vent door is has been filled with roofing tar--I have no idea yet whether the door is there or not under the goop--but the panel under it is well ventilated. In fact, I vacuumed/dug out over a pound of mouse nest, a pint of dirt, and a mature tree's worth of leaves from the cavity beyond. What a mess! I'm afraid to pull the one on the driver's side Anyway, if anyone's about to trash a cab with intact kick panels and working vent doors, I'd appreciate discussing with you the possibility of cutting them out for me.

It sounds like your 4 way switch is integral with the turn signal. I don't believe that the switch is sold as a separate item.
I am scrapping a really rough cab and will look at it tonight to see if the kick panels are worth cutting out. Jim |

palallin ,,,, Mine is like your's,,,,,, hazard knob is red and broke off !! LOL My truck is a '68 but has a '69-'72 column. Maybe somewhere along the line somebody has changed the "guts" of the turn signal because when I buoght a cancelling cam for mine it wasn't the right one. But the springs where the same so I just used them.
Maybe these are car turn signals?????? Just a thought.

I believe the kick panels are usable. I will know more this week end when we pull the fenders. We will need to decide where to cut if they are usable. I would assume that it would be easier to cut at the cowl interface joint.
Anyway give it some thought and I will be back to you Monday. Jim |

My guess is that the easiest route would be to cut at the joints. I probably won't need all that, but I can trim to fit when I get them. My zip is 65559; gimme a guesstimate of what you want for them and the shipping so I can get it out to you after you confirm it's doable. Thanks!

Hazard knob
The difference between hazard knobs depends on the column they come from. Tilt columns use the black round knob, non-tilt columns the red square one.
As far as I can tell the aftermarket doesn't offer red knobs... anywhere. Correct reproduction 4X4 shifter knobs are also "not available". Hope this helps...

My former '72 GMC C2500 had the red rectangular hazard button. And I, too, had no luck finding one.

I have an origonal tilt with a red one. Call Ed at Mothertruckers I think he has the ones with the red ones
